Ireland May 2024

Lucky you…. Our trip seems like a long time ago already.

What time is your ferry?

09.00 Monday morning

Yes, those clouds looks like pretty dark (= bad).

Yesterday eve I experienced the first thunder (lightning and heavy raining) while I’m riding. It came from nowhere. Needed to stop, and simply wait under one buss stop that it will go away.

They say it always rains in UK/Ireland. That might be the reason why Irish will tan even worse than we do.

Is it just that particular area (close to the coast/sea?), or is it normal that there are no trees :open_mouth:? Looks both beautiful but also rugged nature. Bit like Iceland.

Or maybe it is my fault as I’m just used to this (boring) environment.

There are plenty of trees and forests, probably on a much smaller scale than you are used to. A lot of the journey was through hilly regions where they are quite sparse. Check out the area south of Galway called the Burren. That is a very interesting landscape, very rocky and not much else. Father Ted was filmed there if you are familiar with it? It was a brilliant show :grinning: west coast of Ireland and Scotland are my favourite and most beautiful places in the British Isles.

There are trees, they’re just far away…

Are local/Irish people friendly for foreigners/tourists? Or are there already too much tourists (like in Spain)?

It would be great ride a bike there once in the lifetime … travel light (slowly in the country side). Village by village. Visiting similar small idyllic places like TV-serie Emmerdalen.

It is nice to dream…

Some of the nicest friendliest people you will ever meet! Definitely plan to go, it’s better than you imagine.
