Ireland May 2025

I booked my ferry from Rotterdam to Hull today, arriving in Hull on May 15th. There I will be met by Steve @Wessa , and we’ll travel together through Yorkshire and The Lakes, staying the night somewhere in the North Lake District area. Steve will then return home, and I will travel on to get the ferry to Larne, where I’ll meet up with Andy @Andyc1 . I’m very much looking forward to this trip!

Let’s hope nothing interferes with it this time! :crossed_fingers:

I will be retired by then. Maybe a beer or two in the North Lakes is on the cards :thinking:

I was just talking to Steve, and we might stay up a bit further North, around Gretna Green. That’s about an hours ride for you?

Bit more but definitely doable :slightly_smiling_face: Don’t need much of an excuse to go to Scotland!
Let me know where you are staying and I will book a room :+1:

Yep booking completed in Gretna, thanks Wim. Unfortunately the dates for Ireland clash with my cruise with my family, so regrettable I cannot get back into Ireland this year.
However a ride with Wim for a day will be good and I get go into Newcastle on my way home to see some family and possibly Dilligaf a former member of this Parrish.:blush::+1:

Brilliant! :smiley::beer:

Once you know which route you are taking through the Lakes we can arrange to meet on the way (as long as you don’t go too fast :wink:)

After crossing the M6 I was planning to take the B590 up to Levens, then hang a right up the A5074 (I want to have a look at the house in Winster which I have lovely memories of) then towards Bowness, Windermere, Troutbeck and up and over Kirkstone. Rough idea:

The company has grown - not only has dilligaf (and @Dawsy of course) joined the first leg, but in Ireland Dougie will join Andy and myself. So we’ll be 3 on the Irish leg. It’ll be great to see both again.
