Kidney Stones

Some of you might recall my posts in May regarding Kidney Stones.

Well, after an unsuccessful 6 weeks of waiting for a 9mm torpedo shaped stone to pass naturally with the aid of some drugs, I was back in the hospital for day surgery to have the stone blasted with ultrasound. This was successful but left me very sore and with a temporary stent in my Ureter where the stone was stuck.

2 weeks on, today I had the stent removed so now begin a few days recovery and hopefully a return to normality because the stent caused constant discomfort and made me feel like I needed to wee every 5 minutes! :grimacing:

Both procedures were carried out via my Urethra so my avoidance message to you all (male, female or neutral) is to drink lots of fluids (lemon water is best apparently) and watch your salt and sugar intake to reduce the chance of stones forming in your kidneys.

I am now looking forward to getting out on my bikes asap :sunglasses:

Glad you’re on the mend and hope the rest of your recovery moves you swiftly to the point you’re able to jump back on your bike.

If you encounter another medical problem in the future could you make it something that doesn’t cause me to wince quite so much. Ta.

Pleased to hear you’re doing well and will be back on your bikes soon!

That sounded like an right ordeal you went through… glad thats the end of it. Onwards and upwards :grinning:

Glad to hear you are on the mend @geoffb
Must be great relief :grinning:

It’s notoriously one of the most painful conditions you can get, so you have my fullest sympathy, Geoff. Glad the worst is over.

I don’t care to mention how many renal stone procedures I have participated in… You do yourself a disservice to call it torpedo shaped… I have seen very few renal stones that are smooth

Good news indeed.

Once you discover you’ve got them, yes them rather than it, you are never without them.

As for torpedo shaped, definitely not. You can see from the photo why their passing causes so much pain.

Anyone else see a cheeky face in that one? :joy:

Now that you mention it.
