Great rideout today around the Kyles of Bute with some friends, BMW S1000R, BMW 1200GS, Aprilia Tuono 1100 V4 and my Speed 400… fortunately they didn’t hold me up too much!!!
I love the Tea and Brewish viewpoint
OK, that took a while to sink in… the viewpoint at…
Tighnabruaich, right?
Great quiet roads on our ride, which every so often change to single track with passing places.
We had lunch further round on the west coast of the peninsula, at Portavadie Marina on Loch Fyne - we got a warm welcome and they have a very good menu in the restaurant overlooking the marina. Might be slightly pricey for a bikers day out, but it was very good!
Just out of interest, the marina was originally formed as a dock to build oil rigs - I was slightly involved in the original development, as I worked in the architects office designing the support village for the workers - this village was never occupied and has now been demolished, and no rigs were ever built. The area is now developing as a boating marina and holiday destination.
Here is a photo of the abandoned village before demolition, with the oil rig dock/marina beyond.
