Loch Freuchie in Glen Quaich

Great 135mile day ride today, up to Crieff, through the Sma’ Glen then Glen Quaich single track over to Loch Tay and home via Killin. Great route, with some tricky hairpins on the climb out of Glen Quaich… and it stayed dry, unusual for this year!

Lovely. Just my sort of road and countryside!

Since my day out has become its own post, here are a couple more photos and a map of my route. I avoided the motorway wherever I could, so the route goes through Stirling and Bridge of Allan, and takes a minor road through Kinbuck to reach Braco then onwards to Crieff.

The Glen Quaich turnoff is in Amulree and it is a very narrow single track over the mountains to Kenmore at the head of Loch Tay. When it starts climbing there are a couple of really tight uphill hairpins (foot down, I’ll admit!), see inset on map!

This little bothy sits close to the highest point of the mountain road

Kenmore is a great stop off point, and I met a large group from “Biker Mates Fae Central” there - looked like there were some fast riders in that group!
