There’s a common problem with the Superveloce (and other 3-cylinder models, I believe) where the rear brake fades to nothing over time. It’s annoying and MV clearly aren’t going to fix it, so I’m going to fit a Stahlbus valve on the basis I’ll be bleeding it routinely. The t’internet hasn’t provided so I emailed the local dealer today. Hopefully they have all the workshop details. If not, I shall capitalise on their embarrassment next visit.
I’ve those on my ST1050, and it’s the best investment I’ve put in.
Waiting for Bennett’s of Barnsley to reply to my email about the valve size. Bought a bottle for the job yesterday. I don’t use the rear brake much, mostly for filtering or standing hill starts. It’ll be nice to have it, though.
If it’s anything like the Aprilia then it’s due to the rear brake caliper, it sits upside down and because the fluid gets too hot it produces air bubbles which have nowhere to go so sits at the top of the caliper. You have to take it off and bleed it upside down but quickly lose it again. Some say if you hang a weight on the pedal when stored it will help, much like clamping the front brake lever overnight.
Yep, that sounds very familiar. It still irritates me that they haven’t issued a recall on these.
You piqued my interest so I had a look at what they are and if they were available for my Trophy… I liked the idea so found a pack of 4 for a whopping £120 on demon tweeks. Umm, I’ll stick to my vacuum pump for easy(ish) bleeding because I’m cheap. However, I hope it helps you improve the rear brake.
