And another with luggage (BMW do it best - IMO)
It is very good stuff and they also do an exceptional job of emptying your wallet for it too
Nice! (got distracted by that pretty Striple though… )
And my Speedy’s hiding just behind too.
Leering at the Striple with one eye…
Yeah, I already had the luggage but needed the colour panels changing. First quote was borderline whether new panels or respray, went for new, then they misquoted for the smaller top box. Another £100 on the bill . Hindsight should’ve resprayed.
Reading a review the other day, think it was a Kawasaki, and their luggage was just as expensive, if not more!
And IIRC the Kwaka along with other jap bikes will only take either a top box or panniers but not both because with all 3 they are over their GLW which is crap for bikes with supposedly touring capabilities
The Versys takes both though?
I did say other not all and the Versys is more their adventure touring bike rather than in the sports touring class? I think it’s something to do with the gross laden weight vs the kerb side weight and maybe also the strength of the subframe has something to do with it but the bottom line is if you put full luggage on and ride 2 up on a number of jap bikes then you’d be overweight.
Yes, correct I’ve read that too, on the 1000/1100SX at least.
I noticed a sticker inside my new bike shows 10kg for each pannier and topbox, I’ll have to read up, not sure if that’s contents or gross, must be half way there when they’re empty!
I remember my Multistrada boxes were much more crude, not very water tight, but lighter. Different priorities in Ducati.
I only keep light stuff in the top box (documents, maps, fleece, etc) don’t like weight high up. (SWMBO has to hunker down )
Me too - plenty of room in the panniers at 37 litres each.
Nowt wrong with a Rucksack in my opinion….!
Happy to walk or ride a mtb with one… but weirdly hate them on a road bicycle or my motorbike! Nowt queer as folk!
The older you get the more rammel you need to take, our medication would fill a rucksack!
Then if touring abroad there’s all the extra documentation, first aid, hi-viz, etc. etc. you have to take.
And then more inclined towards a more extensive tool kit, puncture repair, security chains, the list is endless.
And if the worst should happen I don’t want anything potentially damaging attached to my body, let alone the riding comfort aspect.
…
But each to their own.
