I hope this isn’t true. I’ve bought several bikes from “Piddy’s” back in the days when I lived Nottingham way, got to know Chris Pidcock and always had good service from them.
Some years now since I’ve used them so don’t know who’s running the show these days.
Latest via the XR forum is that it’s hoped a buyer can be found for the BMW shop but the Triumph and Ducati shops will definitely close. Staff have been informed of redundancy payments service.
TBH, I don’t really care about these dealerships going tits up. Makes me wonder what they all did with the money they were relieving people of during the good times…sorry about people losing their jobs like, but that’s the way of it. The only two times I went in Pidcock’s they treated me like a leper, actually. Couldn’t be arsed to get out of their chairs and see if they could help. How are the mighty fallen…
The thing is, new bikes are now too expensive and over complicated. They do not have massive improvements over the previous year’s models. So why change? Also the aging biking public in this country probably don’t see the need to change as most of them are not doing huge mileages per year.
The increase in interest rates on PCP deals has put a nail in the coffin for that method of purchase for many as well. Difficult times for many dealers. The same is happening in the car world.
A 1050ST with the Speed 1050 RS engine . Electric forks and suspension with a simple modern look . A modern and fast Sports Tourer.
The 1200 Speed engine looks to be too revvy, they have changed it from the 1050 just to make a high top end power figure. Completely unnecessary for a Sports Tourer.
The RS 1050 engine with an upgraded gear box and a few kilos shaved off it would be perfect. Great MPG, power where you want it and character. A simple recipe …!
