A drizzle of lemon juice and a sprinkling of sugar for me. 
Think the last time I had a proper pancake was when my mum did them for us as a kid, but I’ve had them since at the odd crepe stall over the decades.

That is the correct pancake dressing. Traditional and delicious. Syrups are for cissies and Canadians.

Butter and jam on a Scotch pancake with a cup of tea, maple syrup on the big American ones!

I do like a traditional Lemon and Sugar pancake but I often end up with just Nutella because I am a chocolate fiend

Think honey would be as traditional as you can get. 
a little spoonful of stewed rhubarb or gooseberry (suitably sweetened) also works a treat.
