@OApete they’re really impressive, thank you for sharing the photos.
Nice work and really impressive finished article(s)! Are the models themselves of specific boats, e.g. Cutty Sark et al.?
hi Adie,no they are simple ships / boats that i design to fit in the type size of bottle i have at hand.Keeping to a reasonable scale accordingly.Finding a good bottle is the first hurdle.cheers, pete.
Impressive stuff Pete! Self taught or was it a long apprenticeship alongside a salty old sea dog?
Hi Dawsy, years back an elderly neighbor showed me one he had made and that sparked the interest.Got hold of a couple books on the subject and i all began from there.that was 30 odd years ago and my eye’s and hands were in better shape so things are taking longer but that is not a problem. Thanks for the interest. Want a giggle, A month ago i lost balance on the bike going along the garden path and this was the result.I lay trapped under the bike staring at the sky taking it all in.After a few minutes i managed to struggle free, luckily no injury except shoulder that took the brunt of the fall.I managed to get help to right the bike and was pleased to see no real damage, not a scratch ! mirror snapped at the clamp, luckily i had another clamp and an hour later i was on the road.A couple of days later i stood talking to a couple of neighbors just general chit chat when another elderly chap walked up to me and said "oh Pete i’m so sorry mate i was walking by the other day and saw you laying down in the garden with your bike, i didn’t stop thinking you were working on it ! " Someone later told me of your difficulty"We did laugh .
Smashing work!
Hi all,Not biking, but unable to ride today but didn’t waste the time. Everyone’s favorite, they should, they get it for free ! The labels are my design and print.OApete.
That’s an inspiration Pete that I could still be riding in my 70s. After what you’ve been through it’s an even bigger achievement. Be proud of that, keep enjoying it, and stay safe!!
Jock
Still riding in your 70s? I should hope so! I’m 74, and still managing fine. Not planning on stopping anytime soon…
Absolutely Dave, I have a couple of years on you and in two weeks time with two of my lads plus 6 others will be undertaking a 5 day sojourn to Welsh Wales, expecting to clock up a thousand miles based on last year’s trip.
Great to know that at my age (62) I can still be considered a whippersnapper by some! Good on you both @Dave49 and @Bloodknot !
@Dave49 & @Bloodknot & for @Vulpes, I’m beginning to think we should consider a subsection - the SD+ (seven decades plus) club!
I’m 73, own and ride several T300s - y’know, those big, tall heavy beasts - despite knowing I’m on borrowed time as my already diminutive stature is only going one way … and it ain’t up! But, I’ll keep on riding the big stuff for as long as I can keep them upright!!
70s? It’s the new 50s …
Hi all,i think we should get concessions at our age for standing by the brand, on purchase price, clothing, servicing etc ! Eh ? yeah dream on.
It’s difficult to understand how you can be the same age as old people while not being one yourself…
Too right! Mrs. V being slightly () younger than myself means we’ve got quite a lot of young (mid 30’s) friends. Quite a few of them are older between the ears than myself…
SWMBO often tells me that I need to grow up
As the saying goes, growing older is compulsory, but growing up is optional.
Just told my five years old grandson yesterday that as he is a boy he will never REALLY grow up (hopefully )
