The new bike came with a Quad Lock mount so I’ve bought a compatible case for my phone. I generally prefer to use a dedicated satnav but seeing as it was already fitted on the bike I thought I’d give the Quad Lock a go.
Yup! We have them on some of our fleet bikes. I bought one myself for my personal bike, got the vibration damper and ball and socket mount. I can use google maps, waze for a to b or the mobile version of Myroute App for trips. Haven’t used my TomTom sat nav in ages.
I swear by Quad Lock (genuine, not Temu!) and I have a mount in my van and on all of the bikes. The vibration damper helps with the harder suspension set ups but I don’t seem to need it for my every day ride (R nine T).
They are expensive but look out for Black Friday deals coming up in November.
Yes, I recently put an extender bar on my BMW and fitted a quadlock mount with the anti-vibration adapter. I’ve had my Samsung phone in an aftermarket case that’s claimed to be waterproof and armoured and it’s had a quadlock fitting stuck on the back of the case for several months now with no sign of delamination - in fact I tried a number of times to peel it off and it proved to be bonded on so strongly that I gave up trying!
For various reasons I’ve only fairly recently got around to fitting and using the mount and the one thing I’ve found is that I really need a Quadlock fitting on a ‘ball mount’ fitted to the extender bar to get a better/optimal ‘line of sight’ orientation angle and minimise the ‘projection’ from the bar but that’s proving a difficult ask because of the odd handlebar size of the Beemer.
Yup I got the ball mount and then used some Ram mount stuff I had left over . \i needed it to adjust the FOV and also to clear a tank bag I was using.
As said if you can wait until black friday they do have some great reductions
I have the Quadlock with the wireless charging head on my '23 Tiger 1200 Rally Explorer. I have the dampener installed with it but not sure it’s necessary because I’m mainly on paved roads. It’s nice to have a mount that you don’t have to plug a cable in each time you attach your phone. The downfall with the wireless charger is it interferes with the FOB if the phone is attached, so to activate the bike I have to keep the phone off the charger. The passive key will still activate the bike with the phone attached. Quadlock is aware of the issue and offered to refund it but didn’t have a fix stating that the coils in the units are slightly misaligned.. Still worth it to have a hard wired charging solution without plugging in every time.
I’ve noticed that the phone charging doesn’t always work when I put it on the Apple induction charger overnight. It says it’s charging but in the morning that battery level is low.
That’s strange, my Google Pixel with Quad Lock case charges well on most if not all wireless MagSafe chargers I have never tried the Apple ones though!
