Pirelli is recalling the Metzeler Tourance Next and Next II. A total of 3,093 tires with various production dates may be affected by the recall. Pirelli warns that some of these tires were installed as original equipment on said Triumph motorcycles.
According to the defect report defective tires may develop irregular wear after a certain mileage, potentially resulting in breakage of the zero degree reinforcement. If this condition is not promptly detected, it may lead to a dangerous situation due to detachment of the tread layer and/or sudden loss of air pressure.
This affects the Metzeler TOURANCE NEXT 150/70R18 M/C 70V, produced NOV 30, 2016 – JUN 11, 2024.
I spoke to my dealer today, and they told me new tyres are being produced now, and when they arrive at the dealers the replacement will be fitted free of charge.
They also said that if my bike is still not allowed on the road due to insurance limitations they’ll pick it up at my home and return it to me, also free of charge.
My rear tyre has 3.200 miles on it, so I’m rather happy…
