So I have had this twice since I got the bike in August, both times the bike had been sat for while (a week or maybe two).
If it doesn’t start first time on the button, when it does the EML stays on. Bike runs absolutely fine but the light won’t go out. After the first time I have been keeping it on the Optimate but it made no difference today. Ran it round for an hour today but light still on.
Any ideas? I may ring a dealer tomorrow as it’s still in two years warranty.
A sensor issue, perhaps? I’d let the dealer sort it out…
Yep definitely a one for the dealer.
Is this not still an ongoing problem with the 400’s?
Mine had the EML on periodically and also the stalling issue. It got a software update which seemed to work on mine but on others it affected the immobiliser and sometimes affected starting. At that time I believe that dealers were told to reverse the software update. I was assured that running with the EML on was not a problem.
There is a 400 forum with a lot of information where you could maybe get more up to date comments - I sold mine so I’m a bit out of date.
Cheers all, I will call a dealer tomorrow. Living in the sticks the nearest are Carlisle or Blackburn ![]()
Keep it on the Optimate, I’m sure I read on the 400 Forum that the battery/electrics don’t like a drop in power when laid up for any length of time.
At present I am swapping the Optimate between bikes but I may need to invest in another. I will see what Black Friday deals arise ![]()
I’ve got three - one for each bike… ![]()
