Not terribly impressed…
I didn’t see the thread so don’t know whether it needed deleting or not, nor what went on behind the scenes that led to it being removed. The admin job’s not an easy one, especially when the owner shows little interest or admin support in that forum either. I’ve not been on there much since all my posts were deleted by accident some years ago and the owner provided no back up to Wayne to reinstate them which really pissed me off! Often when I look in there there’s not much going on apart from the usual couple of threads or some newbie saying hello and what else there is is sometimes repeated on here anyway.
Personally I think that threads that are created to identify problems people have with their bike, accessory or service recieved are factual and don’t get personal then that’s fine and should be allowed, just the same as the ones offering praise are but it’s not my forum.
It’s a shame really
+1 Wot U said.
It’s a shame Wayne has landed himself such a thankless task.
A few years back when i realised Rob had abandoned the forum I stopped paying the £5 subs I was happy to contribute previously, I still browse the forum perhaps once a week but it’s extremely rare for me to contribute anything in resent years.
I’ve always thought bike forums can do without politics and religion as it usually means trouble. But as you say factual information on bikes and dealerships should remain uncensored IMO.
I also go on the XR forum, that one is HEAVILY moderated, I once got a slapped wrist for suggesting the EU was to blame for oppressive bike regulations, apparently my views deemed too political.
Slight misunderstanding here. I was in fact referring to a thread posted on here beefing about free speech on another forum, but then the moment a reply appeared that the OP didn’t like the look of, the thread was closed. Quite a healthy dollop of irony, from where I’m sitting.
As far as I can tell from here the thread was closed at the request of the TS?
Have I missed summat on here???
Yes, but not a fire worth riddling. The whole question of free speech isn’t addressed in this thread… it’s a local response pertaining to actions taken following disappointment in another forum.
Also, if you read the posts you’ll know as much as eveyone else.
Yes you have
On the subject of free speech…
How do folk feel about having someone choosing their own pronoun and you having to abide by what you are told they are?
And if it’s cool, what other descriptors are up for grabs? Where is a line drawn?
For example, should a westward jaffa describe themselves as “your majesty” in January… does that hold water? And if not… why not?
(These questions were rhetorical in nature and don’t require answering )
I think it was your round
I’d better go back to hibernation……
It is the right time of year
I think it’s more to do with someone suggesting it’s his round.
I’m answering anyway. Choose your pronouns, call yourself what you want. I’m cool with that. However, I will call you what I choose.
