Tempted by a 1050 GT

Skorpion should sound nice. :+1:t2:
Underseat exhaust was great - but meant seat was bolted down, no storage, I assume the GT will have?
Yes my S1000XR is the sport end of adventure bikes, but if Triumph did a 1200 triple (NOT cross/T plane) version similar to the current Tiger Sport 660 with quality luggage (BMW do that best) then the Beemer would be out on its ear. Can’t say I’m in love with the 4cyl 1000.

In not sure what’s under the seat. It’s got all the luggage so that should take everything I need.

The S1000XR was an outside contender for me. I haven’t ridden one. I presume it’s the same engine as its sport and naked siblings. I like the RR a lot.

Loads of power, but you do have to rev it compared to the 1050, just lacks the bucket loads of character (& torque straight off idle) that the 1050 has. It handles VERY well and obviously has all the toys of more recent technologies, seat hight I would say quite a bit higher than the 1050GT, but I’d guess a bit lighter too. Having a BMW dealer in Falmouth, and 2yrs of BMW European breakdown coverage, had a lot to do with my choice, not so important if looking at older tech that is self maintainable (as with our Speed and Street Trips).

Must admit that a sports tourer based on the Speed Triple 1200 with compliant suspension and factory luggage would probably be my perfect bike.

Congratulations! (I got all excited at first about the exhaust - thought it was the underseat one…then looked again at the photo :person_facepalming:).

I know, it’s a shame. Fortunately, there’s still the Superveloce exhaust to look at in the garage.

Having just sold my 2016 Sprint GT 1050, I have to say these are lovely bikes but the handlebar position, length and weight distribution was not for me. I would much sooner have a Tiger 850 or 900 GT Pro as a tourer.

the 1050 GT is born from a very good base, the ST.
The ST would be perfect for the pilion dropping the under seat exhaust and lower the pilion seat… oh wait :grinning:
I’m still in love with my ST, a perfect balance between sport and confort, but not a duo bike for too long travels. The GT probably is.
I’m currently considering keeping the ST for me and only me, drop the old 1984 Goldwing, too heavy, too complicated to maintain (carbs), and take a light and confortable Deauville to travel around with madame.

But yes give this GT a try. I at a point considered dropping the ST for a GT, but I knew I would have missed the ST agility.

Me too. I mentioned that in another thread regarding the 1200 RR. It’s not the bike I want. A sports tourer as the old 1050 Sprint ST with the 1200 engine and electric suspension is what I would replace my 1050 RS with. Ideally with the under seat pipes…!

Congratulations, lovely colour… looking forward to your reviews. I always thought I’d like to do a grand tour on one

Still going through the finances at the moment and I can’t pick it up before 25th. Just in time for winter. :man_facepalming:

Can’t do the underseat pipes but… traditional sports tourer, 1200cc, leccy suspension…sadly not a Trumpet though

Underseat pipes add height to the pillion seat.
I like underseat pipes, but it’s not compatible with a tourer.
