Making the most of the sunny weather, I decided to have a run through Kielder as I have only glimpsed it when I was over Durham way once.
Left home in “fresh” temperatures and weaved my way through the Lakes over Kirkstone Pass up to Penrith.
Then on to Alston via A686 where I had a brew at the Nook cafe. Very nice too😀
Carried on towards Haltwhistle and the Military Road, you can tell it’s a Roman road
Carried on until I reached Kielder Water which was photo and brew time.
Now currently chilling in digs in Newcastleton. The room would be described by an estate agent as "bijou"
The roads were lovely and quiet all the way up really, nice surprise.
Looking forward to a couple of beers later while I plan tomorrow’s route home.
If at Newcastleton, it’s worth a look in at Hermitage Castle nearby. Even on a sunny day, it’s quite the most forbidding looking medieval building I have seen. You wouldn’t want to have fallen out with its owner…
Yep , I seen it a couple of weeks ago when he took it for a test ride. And of course yesterday when he got it home.
He did look at the 900 speed twin and a royal enfield, but we both agreed that the 1200 would best suit his riding needs.
I did say to him that if I was going to change the tiger it would be the only bike I would consider. I loved the gen 1 that I had. Triumph have fixed the front brake issue that my bike had, which makes for me a perfect package.
