That’s me being a bit obtuse, it’s someone’s pride and joy… they’ve obviously put their hand in their pocket and done a top rate job! What matter of mine is it that I’m not keen on the look they’ve gone for? They probably wouldn’t like my tattoos, or my pretty much stock TDM, or a thousand other of my tastes/choices!
I’m sorry Mr(s) Someone, it’s better than I could do/afford to do! Well done for getting it sorted, and it looks well sorted!

Apparently it’s ok putting a rear tyre on the front, hence the smaller than standard wheel. This video is on Continental’s website so I assume they are fine with it.

So, more tyres to chosse from now. Every day a learning day.

Those tyres have a symmetrical tread pattern, but tyres on my bike, and I believe a lot of road tyres, have relatively thin tread groves which are directional, presumably for better water clearing. Where the front tyres are angled to clear water under braking and on the rear under acceleration.

Also, you can see from the ribs on the inside that the fibres in the construction are angled towards one direction which presumably means their strength and rigidity is directional.

So, if you wanted to use rear on front you would either have tread pattern going the ‘wrong’ way for optimum water clearing, or you would have to reverse the wheel so the carcass fibres were ‘wrong’ affecting handling (?) and structural integrity (?) From the comments on the video I notice they were fitted in reverse, which is what seems safest to me.

Now, I have no idea if I’m talking bollocks or if the directional differences in tyres are just not significant in practice for normal road use.
