Today I have mostly been

How old are these new bikes going to get. Will you still be able to keep em on the road, at 10,20,30 years old, with just some helpful advice and some spanners?

I still want one.

Same, I was up at my daughters wedding in Somerset and my ever helpful son noticed a screwhead poking out of my Terranos rear tyre. I drove 125 miles back to Carmarthenshire that night (yes M4) and unscrewed it next morning-plugged it with my motorcycle tyre mushroom kit and did another 4-5k miles on that tyre with no issues.

Back to suspension. Part of me is curious and impressed, the other part would make me feel empty that I would never really properly own the bike knowing that at the end of a warranty I HAVE TO GET RID just in case it breaks

Remember on the gmu at Bellingham you had a puncture in a little village somewhere and you did it all in about 20mins with Littleade’s compressor. I was impressed dear Andy!!

I imagine over a long period of time, the current technology will become simple and easily copied/replaced with aftermarket parts etc. a bit like fuel injection and electronic ignition is now? Thats if your still allowed to have an internal combustion engine!

The same could be said for a lot of things in life I suppose.

Remember it well! For about a tenner, they are worth their weight in gold!

One problem I’ve found with the sticky string variety is you need to check the tubes of rubber adhesive are still any good, especially if you’ve used part of the tube as without a decent dollop to lube the string up you’ll never be able to insert it into the tyre through the puncture. I bought a few so have a ready suply should you need them. The Co2 cartridges are a bit naff too and don’t have enough umph to inflate the tyre to anywhere near the right pressure so you then have to find a garage to pump your tyre up after, much better to get a small 12v compressor

I’ve seen unopened tubes of rubber solution go dry so yes, worth checking! I keep a tube in its own box now to stop it getting squeezed or bent. I think that was the problem, the metal tube can crack if subject to a lot of movement/vibration and letting air in.
As for the c02 canisters, doesn’t matter how many you use, they will only get you to about 15psi or thereabouts. But thats enough to ride on (carefully) and get you to the nearest garage, or home.
