I appear to have a similar issue with my valve/aortic root replacement… scared to think how much private will cost though ![]()
Don’t ask, you won’t know!!
It’s (relatively) easy to comment ‘from the sidelines’, I know, but it is, surely, much better to at least investigate your potential options? As you’re a health sector worker I suspect that you’re already acutely (pun intentional) aware of the backlog/workload of local NHS facilities so, despite the ‘counter-cultural’ misgivings you’ll have, for the sake of your personal long term health it’s got to be worth investigating alternative (including private) options?
Best wishes and best of luck with it all.
Not today, but yesterday evening…
Had my initial consultation with an orthopaedic surgeon, he seemed a little perplexed by my symptoms but thought it may be nerve related. That was my thoughts too. He said about getting a scan on the elbow (where there is extremely painful spot when pressed) and a nerve conduction test.
As I was writing this got a call from their x-ray department going through a questionnaire for the MRI scan. They wanted to know how quick I can get there if they have a cancellation, but I’ll get an appointment for about 10 days from now anyway. ![]()
Hope you get sorted quickly.
This morning have been getting the bike ready for my mini trip into Wales. Gonna be a wet one, but what the hell it is February. lol
I’m meeting Dilligaf a former member of this parish for a weekends fun.
Have a great weekend both of you

Out for a six course posh dinner to celebrate a birthday earlier this week. I know it was posh because this was the set menu.
Was that you rolling into triple figures then? ![]()
AS you didn’t say which birthday, we’re allowed to speculate without reproach… Eleventy One has already been taken by a more venerable sort… I think I’m older than you but not by much, so I’ll open with 52???
(Happy birthday whatever dude)
I’ve decided I don’t like the way decimal numbers are headed so I’ve changed to the binary system. My next significant birthday will be in 100 years.
Good for her! ![]()

Back from a week off. Travelling to le Mans to visit my mother (82) then collect old friends with her 12 years old daughter.
Car travel through the Shuttle, fish and ships in Folkestone, stop at the Eastbourne Pier, then a looonng way (not by distance) around west London to reach Watford. More than 1 hour stuck in traffic jam.
Our daughter and husband drove from Birmingham for a nice meal with us, and next morning…
HARRY POTTER studio! Brilliant if you ask me. Been there in 2012, but it improved a lot. Restricted number of tickets (sold out day) makes the visit enjoyable. Never felt over crowded, Disneyland Paris should take lessons from Harry Potter studio.
Back in the car to drive down to Poole, traffic jams again, heavy rain, and a well deserved curry.
Ferry from Poole to Cherbourg in the morning a bit shaken by a bad sea , back in Le Mans, then back in the Alps.
3000 km in 6 days but it was really nice.
Sounds like a great little break!
Agreed, sounds like you had a good time. Always good to catch-up with family.
I forgot to mention I finally met my mother’s partner
. Both widow, a nice guy, despite being both 82 they plan travels etc.. Really happy about that for my mum. She deserves to be happy. No age limit required for that.
