Booked accommodation for 3 nights in the Scottish Borders this coming week.

I also decided that would be a good opportunity to try out the Oxford Mondial suit I bought last year for use on this year’s coming Ireland tour. So just to make sure I was ready I tried it on again today and apart from it not being quite the right size and shape (nothing ever is) I discovered that the braces just wanted to instantly slide off my shoulders. (Not sure why I didn’t notice this when I tried them on last year.)

Anyway, with the help of some sewing from Mrs Mouse we turned the rectangular back panel into a triangle so the braces could cross over as braces should. That sorted them

3 nights in the Borders sounds great. Some terrific roads to ride.

What a cunning stunt… I shall have to look for an appropriate set of fingers to modify mine (which have an “off the shoulder” tendency)

Where are you going to stay? In the Borders region or in Dumfries and Galloway?

Around Moffat way, seems like a good central base to explore from.

Agreed. One good run is to take the Selkirk road from Moffat as far as St Mary’s Loch, turn left to pass the Megget and Talla Reservoirs (see photo), drop down to Tweedsmuir, then turn left on to the A701, up Tweeddale and back to Moffat past the Devil’s Beef Tub. The Dalveen Pass is another good run.

Thanks for the tips. Already had those roads in a provisional satnav route but good to get a personal recommendation

Or Dumfries-Crocketford-Balmaclellan-New Galloway-Clatteringshaws Loch-Newton Stewart. Or Dumfries to Moniaive to either Carsphairn or St John’s Town of Dalry and down to Castle Douglas. Or the Corse of Slakes road (if you can find it) from Creetown to Gatehouse of Fleet: quite the remotest-feeling road you’re ever likely to meet. Or… Or…

After where he ended up at Llandiloes I hope you haven’t let him book the accommodation

Mark hasn’t changed a bit! Good one guys!

After the storm of a few days ago…

Saturday was still, no wind at all (still a good swell for the surfers), so a stroll on the coast path was in order.

Puffing a bit by the time we got back up from the beach.

To here

If you’ve got an Amazon Firestick and watched the screensavers this should look familiar.
