I’ve been on the hunt for new gear but I haven’t been able to find a jacket I actually like. I’m ideally looking at something which offers some decent protection, but the protection level to which triumph jackets have been tested can’t be found anywhere apart from their leather AAA jackets. This goes in line with every other manufacturer really, which is as little bit disappointing, so I was just wondering if anyone knew what type of protection level do triumph jackets offer.
More specifically, I’m thinking in getting one of their “triple mesh” jackets, but I wanted to get at least something which would have passed the tests with an AA. I would obviously go and check but the shop is more than an hour drive from where I’m based!
Can anyone shed some light on this? Many thanks in advance!
I can’t answer your question as I’ve never bought any Triumph gear, but I’m surprised that they don’t state what level of CE rating their gear has. Just stating that it’s EN17092 could mean A, AA or AAA - so not very helpful. On that basis alone I’d avoid it.
I assume they avoid providing it because it doesn’t have the best ratings.
Thanks for your opinion. That’s what I think as well… As I’ve said, it seems to be common practice with all motorbike specific gear except for the highest rated clothes. A little bit annoying to be honest, I would have liked some more transparency as this affects rider safety really.
If it’s of any help I use one of these which is AA rated with a base layer or T shirt underneath, you can then put any old shirt or jacket over the top
