Triumphs in Classic Bike Guide

Classic Bike Guide June 2025 magazine is out now, and has a few articles about older classic Triumphs which might be of interest for a bit of bedtime reading -

Thunderbird transformation - bringing a 1950 Thunderbird 650 back to life

Triumph TRW - a general guide to this model

Hinkley Triumphs - a look at the '90’s triples and fours

Add in articles on Hesketh and Moto Guzzi, and it’s a good edition of the mag!

Although I get this classic bike mag each month, I’m not a classic owner, and I don’t have any real wish to have one, maybe I’ve run too many cheap, badly maintained old clunkers in the past… but there is something about that TRW…

More Triumph in the October issue, out soon - an 11-page guide to the Triumph T140 - plus a couple of off-road Nortons and a look back at the BSA Gold Star, Ducati MH900e and Honda VFR…

Haven’t bought a magazine for ages but had to go for this one. Blimey the pages seem more lightweight these days. A good read, thanks @ajc400

The writer of the Triumph article owns a T140 and obviously loves his - quite rightly too. I enjoyed the read and the photos.

The section on the DBD BSAs was spot on as well. I really don’t like those bikes, either to look at (I can’t get passed the curved subframe around the side panels on either BSA or Nortons) or ride with their required stupid revving to keep them going.
I do like the Atlas shown in the magazine and would be tempted if I wasn’t trying to bin everything.

Interestingly the small article - ‘DVLA simplifies bike resto rules’ (WTF is “resto”!) shows how youtube fear mongers - Stuart Fillingham and the like and MAG have got it completely wrong. Restoring bikes has been made easier to keep the original registration and will not enforce scrapping of machines.

And, it seems, some will be able to pay a subscription to watch Henry Cole - £4 a month or £40 for a full year. I really don’t get the rip someone off for something nice, get a so called expert to play with it and then sell it for a profit. Basically, watch how I can rob someone, use someone else’s skill, make a profit when I don’t need it AND get someone to pay to watch me do it.

Glad you enjoyed the mag - not being particularly knowledgeable about classics, I sometimes expect a “what a load of rubbish, that guy hasn’t a clue” kind of reply!

A look at the 1958 Triumph T100 in the December 2025 issue, out soon, and nine pages of Henry Cole… which may be good or bad, but I’m OK with that!

I refer the honorable Gentleman to my previous post on the matter of Mr H Cole. :slightly_smiling_face: However, the T100 may be worth a quick squint in WH Smith.
