It seems there was Dean Moon, an American hot rod drag enthusiast who had the moon eyes “brand” in the 50s…
Edit… but he seems to be car focused… so I’ve no idea who the above chap is? He might be Cooper, but reading his stuff suggests he was more of a racer.
