Hats an off to all who provide our vital NHS services, everyone of the folk in the supply chain deserves our thanks and appreciation. ![]()
Last night I dropped my Blade off for a service and MOT and I can collect it tomorrow.
Today I took my Hyperstrada to Moto-Vation in Cheltenham to see Tim to sort the few bits and bobs that have been an issue as Fowlers cannot fit me in until May and even then can’t guarantee when work will be done, plus suggested a few weeks ago that I drop it off then in case it can be done beforehand, which means they’d have the bike for a long time, which doesn’t fill me with confidence. Half an hour’s labour and £45 later, Tim had things sorted
.
The weather is gorgeous, so after Tim had finished with the bike I went for a little potter into the Cotswolds and thought I’d seek out Mr Watson’s Cafe as I have been meaning to for a while. It is next door to Watsonian Sidecars; they have some lovely machines there…
Today Helmut took his Tuono and I took the Hyperstrada and we just had a quick jaunt to The Oily Rag in Gloucester, we couldn’t be too long as he had a haircut booked, so it was just a 70 mile round trip
.
I then picked the Blade up from its service and MOT (passed with an advisory for a noisy exhaust!) but it has been sidelined in the garage for a few weeks until a small oil leak that was found when it was serviced can be sorted.
Oil leak on a Honda, especially a red one ![]()
Especially a red one!!! For an almost 21 year old bike, it’s not doing too badly I don’t think (touch wood!). I have been told I can ride it and monitor, however these things don’t get better and I have my other bikes so am going to leave it until it has been taken apart and looked at properly.
Finally got out on mine for the first time this year
I found the combo of bright sun shining through the bare trees and hedgerows made potholes more difficult to spot. Has anyone else noticed this too?
I couldn’t possibly advise - we have neither hedgerows nor potholes…
bright sunshine we do have though…![]()

Ouch that cleared the moths
That’s a slow start for you this year??
I’m starting some bike maintenance tomorrow so thought I’d go out this afternoon for a few hours in case the clear blue skies don’t last until I do a post maintenance test ride. Don’t want to be at home working on bike and resenting missing out on riding. ![]()
I’d had to contend with a lot of pheasants on the road during my ride but wasn’t expecting to have to swerve for a buzzard! It was reluctant to leave the roadkill it was feeding on and was tardy flying off as I approached. It started to try and carry the large roadkill with it so was slow to gain altitude to clear the hedgerow, and it turned to go down the road instead before at the very last second as I was doing a mild swerve it dropped it’s food and took off over the hedge.
Looks like a sunny Shobdon ![]()
I’m getting on Eric and riding in the cold isn’t really an option for me now, plus I SORN’d the ditchpump last November so delayed taxing it until the beginning of this month as I struggled with the thought of parting with the £121 ![]()

Yep, warm weather and a warm welcome from the nice lady in the café. Quiet too today, I was the only biker there and I didn’t advertise I was going so it wasn’t my fault ![]()
I almost went before work today, but didn’t; must have sensed you were going
.
That was close ![]()
Ade, I’m the same, mines still on sorn from December and I’ve put taxing it off too as I’ve been riding my ‘free to run’ Mz. I’m actually away on holidays so didn’t manage to tax it on the first of this month either
It’s the lower viewpoint you now have since trading the GS. ![]()
How’s life at the end of that cart track, have you come out of isolation yet before the tourists arrive to create chaos ![]()
As my GS was lowered there’s only a 10-20mm difference in the seat height between the 2 ditchpumps. I know that’s a lot in some circumstances (ask any lady) but I’m used to seeing things form just above ground level anyway.
The good thing now though Eric is if you can bring yourself to tax it for 12 months, you can SORN it at any time and they refund you for the remaining whole months. Not sure if you’d get it all back and there’s some form of admin fee, e.g. half if there was 6 months remaining but at least you’re no longer limited to either 6 or 12 months. Go on, you know you want to…
We had several ride-outs in pretty cold iffy weather a few weeks back. But now REALLY pissed off staring out at this gorgeous good riding weather, still trying to shake off the man-flu/cold, and just passed it on to SWMBO, so now in DEEP do-do. ![]()
No worries, we’ll be fit again in time for the rains. ![]()
