TMF has just done a final thoughts vid on the 900 Raly Pro and his main gripe was it was tall and top heavy. It’s surprising how extra height really impacts this as my 1250GS was only a couple of kg heavier than my 1250RS, yet the combo of slightly narrower bars and being lower to the ground due to 17" wheels and less suspension travel makes it much easier to move around so if you decide you miss the 900 why not try the 900 GT pro as that has a seat height of 820-840mm which would be far more manageable?
Yes, I agree - with hindsight I think the GT would have been a much better choice. The trouble now is that swapping to a GT would mean having to part with the Speed Twin to help fund it. I really like the updates that Triumph have done to the 2024 Tiger and really like the Tiger platform in general, so maybe next year there will be lightly used ones available at better prices
Can’t speak for the 900, but the upgrades for the 1200 are brilliant. Smoother engine, more torque and no more stalling at low revs. Yes it’s heavy moving around, but I’m a tall, strong Dutchman (occasionally struggling with it, I will admit, but it’s worth it)
But do Triumph supply a tall, strong Dutchman with all their top-heavy new bikes? And do they have the luggage capacity to take one around with them?
I’m loath to have to admit I shan’t fit into any luggage supplied…
I could advertise for a strong tall Dutchman, but people might get the wrong idea!
“Looking for a big, strong Dutchmen… to help with the flippy-floppy handling of a big ole’ bike! Must have strong wrists and a firm grasp… a back that can take a pounding from low speed manoeuvres… and a desire to travel in small dark compartments would be helpful with my comings and goings!”
There you go, that should make it nice and clear, you have my permission to use this advert anywhere
Took the speed triple out to see me dear old auntie.
Her Saturday treat is a fresh doughnut from a local bakers. Usually I’m in the car but yesterday the weather was nice and the bike was in an easy position to take out, so off I went. Only about 7 miles each way but just a lovely steady, country lane bimble for a change. Didn’t have a rucksack so stuffed the doughnut down my jacket, felt like the old days.
Poor old aunty got a warm dough nut delivered and I got a greasy stain on my shirt…!
Today I’m heading home from rally. Stopped for a photo on North Yorkshire moors so @Vulpes doesn’t think I skimping on the pics
Another hour of nice riding to go then two more on busy major roads and dual carriageway…
Don’t know what’s in those boxes… but I’d advise caution if they make you shįt that much
It’s kitchen paper mate… I could see that observation coming though…
You could tow that trolly home. It appears to already have a handy tow chain attached.
I knew Triumph built cars
The Speed Twin is in for its annual service this afternoon. Conveniently my Scrambler 400 had been delivered to the dealer a couple of hours beforehand so I got to have a look.
Crappy phone pic
It’s booked in for its PDI on Wednesday so I should be able to collect it Thursday. I’m quite excited (why isn’t there a ‘running around excitedly’ emoji).
I’ve borrowed a 2024 Tiger 900 GT Pro for the afternoon. It’s really nice and feels a lot more manageable than my Rally Pro. I’m having to resist the urge to fire up the spreadsheet and perform some creative man-maths.
We love the rides along your meres. We camped at Flevoland for a week in 1999, cycling around on a tandem with friends. Since giving up the bicycles, we visit by Triumph. The Deltaworks on the west coast is great riding, with fascinating sluices and lock gates. And of course Afluitsdijk in the North. Great museum at Lelystad explaining the polder systems through the years. Must come back again soon…
We’re not too bad at watermanagement… Below all the land we’ve taken/reclaimed from the water over the centuries…
It’s no wonder everyone else is worried about rising sea levels , they all thought it was global warming but no…… it’s the Dutch polder programme …
Also carried out in the Norfolk Fens (and Dagenham, Hatfield Chase and Sedgemoor…) in the 17th century…
