Think I’ve been there on a holiday
Lovely looking mud plugger!
I think you have to.
It’s a WW2 Cromwell. Top speed of over 40mph - that must have been an impressive sight!
Spent a few hours riding around the local back lanes to scrub in new rear tyre and brake pads. Went exploring and found a few little roads I don’t remember travelling before, amazing that I can still discover them within 20 miles of home. Either that or my memory isn’t as good as it was
Above picture isn’t a ‘new’ road, it’s one around Launde abbey but it’s not on a regular route so fitted in with my desire for the novel.
Several times on the single-track roads I came across small groups of scooters with young looking riders in fancy dress. I also spotted a square number badge stuck of the windshield of one, guess there is some sort of rally going? Certainly seemed a happy bunch when they returned my waves.
There are some familiar local roads that I usually ride in the same direction, because they form part of a larger route. I’ve found that riding the same roads in the opposite direction can refresh the experience and make them more interesting.
Exactly what we did in the Dolomiites. Completely different experience.
Nice new pistons, broke a ring being too ham fisted, poo …but had a new box of some LF Harris ones hanging around so used those instead, phew
Last minute B&B booking in Tarbert, so heading off soon, a quick loop of Kintyre tomorrow and home again! A nice little tour for the 400!
I thought you meant Tarbert, Harris there for a moment…
Ordered a replacement Log Book with the DVLA as I couldn’t find my original….
All part of the next bike plan…….?
@Oldskool you cannot beat planning for a new bike, well you can once it has been chosen and has been delivered. lol
I need to get out and test ride one. Looking at the figures for the 1200RR shows more torque but higher up the rev range . The 1050RS is perfect engine wise. Don’t want to jump ship and not like it…!
That one at West Yorkshire Triumph was still in the showroom last weekend with over five grand knocked off the price.
Wrong colour for me … but thanks for the tip off.
Just working on my opening gambit with Mrs Oldskool…….
One thing I can say about the 1200 RS that I owned…. The engine is epic
Goes for the 1200 Tiger, too. But not @Oldskool 's type of bike, I think… Horses for courses…
1200 Tiger is not for me. I. Glad I rode one and the new engine is very interesting. The one I rode only had 600 miles on the clock and the roads were not the best to conduct a test ride on with no overtakes and were tight country lanes with little visibility so speeds were low. .
The engine felt lovely when it got going but a little flat down low. The crank configuration on the Tiger is very different to The 1200 Speed Triple and almost two stroke like with a real, noticeable power band. When it came on the cam it really motored with my mate onboard …!
At low revs, certainly. It gets really lively as of 5K revs, and IS quick! But as I said, horses for courses - I have the Tiger for the long trips. Had a right hoot with my (19!) year old speedy in the Dolomites. Instant grunt, great powerband. Having said that, the “BOBOBOBOP” noise of the Tiger in full scream is pretty addictive as well!
Headed Cambridgeshire way in search of new roads, don’t go that way often so had quite a lot of time on unfamiliar roads. Looks like the harvesting is mostly done now.
Ooh, shiny.
