When is a visa not a visa?

For all you Euro travellers, are you aware of the ETIAS scheme which comes into operation next year?

ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) will be introduced by may 2023 . Many nationalities who can currently enter any of the Schengen countries without any type of visa or travel authorization , will need to obtain an ETIAS visa waiver before setting off.

You’ll need to fill out a form and pay a fee of seven Euro to waive the need for a visa when visiting the EU. Starts next May. Thought it was worth a mention. :slightly_smiling_face:

Just to clarify that’s 7 Euros for 3 years, not every time you travel

Not surprised, just another thing to have to get if you want to travel.

It doesn’t look to be much hardship to get it. I’m pretty sure that the new passports I’ve seen have all been black as was my old hardback one. I can’t remember ever seeing a blue passport.

Sounds a bit like the ESTA system used for entry to the USA, quite easy to use but not something you want to forget doing before you travel
