Where have I been

I have recently returned from a holiday in New Zealand (Noth Island) and Rockingham near Perth in Australia. I was fed up with the UK weather so thought a visit to my Daughter in Mangaweka and my Brother-in-Law in Rockingham.
New Zealand roads are fantastic compared to UK. Lovely twisty roads but not good manners by car drivers.
We did encounter some odd sights.

We travelled half way around the world to find in Wellington a crane built at Stothert and Pitts in Bath, my home town.

Mangaweka has the remaining cantiliver bridge in NZ

For those that have seen the trilogy of films on ‘Lord of the Rings’
A view from a visit to Wakapapa Village

More to follow…

I’m heading to New Zealand on Friday, to visit my daughter and her family. They have a house move while we are there… hopefully I’ll just be watching!!

You could always move to Ecclefechan instead. (Reminds me of the schoolteacher on her way home who met two of her pupils standing by the roadside, and asked them what they were doing. “Waiting for the 'fechan bus, miss” did not go down well.)

Because of the family/grandchildren connection we will, as usual, just be on the North Island. We do have a few days away planned before the move - Rotorua for a bit of volcanic activity, Napier for some Art Deco architecture and Taupo for everything else!

Once the move is done we’ll have this view over their farm to enjoy, so not too bad!!

Are they literally moving the house (I’ve seen it done), or just going to live in a different one? :slightly_smiling_face:

No, sold house in town and moving out to the country. Nick is from a farming family, although he’s a police sergeant, and Carole is cabin crew with AirNZ.

They already have some cattle and sheep, I guess this is expansion time for their grazing company!

No more walking down to Muffin Break for morning coffee now!!

That’s where I want to live :joy:
Seen the house too :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:https://www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/67215292/?search_identifier=86c73cd749559714ea1db4628eb38c2a9c6b45f4bd29aa50550e1c0bb79e679b

Then you too could catch the 'fechan bus. :grinning:

The house where we stayed during our holiday. Bought by a doctor and relocated for use of fellow medical people to relax and recuperate. No Internet and no TV just pure relaxation.

The view from the balcony. It shows part of Magaweka railway viaduct. Built by Italian rrisoners of war.
