Yet another one

That’s 3 now in recent weeks on the Bridgenorth to Kidderminster Road

I was sat waiting for the Train to Worcester at Kidderminster station just before 10am this morning on my way to watch my Son in law run a half marathon for charity and I could hear the power suuuper bikers riding like loonies round the ring road which is a 40 limit. Sundays are just a non starter for me round here, it’s a recipe for disaster every weekend when the weather’s half decent.

 It’s still a shame though… problem is when it affects other people too! We don’t know who’s at fault, but being 40 years old, I imagine there’s family of his who will feel the loss, no matter whether he was riding fast or not.

Sympathy to all involved including the folk clearing up the situation

Not commenting on this particular case, because I don’t know anything about it, but a general observation. Motorcyclists have a disproportionately high death rate, not only because of idiot car drivers as we like to think, (most of us are primarily car drivers ourselves), but also because there is a cohort of bikers who like to use the roads as a sporting challenge and come unstuck. I know two places locally where guys have killed themselves by riding too fast on a not particularly difficult road, with no other vehicles involved. This is a completely unnecessary tragedy for them and their families. It has also always resulted in official hostility towards us all because our chosen means of transport is seen as more dangerous than it really is and generally to be discouraged, when it isn’t the bikes that are dangerous but some of the people who ride them. The wannabe racers aren’t doing the rest of us any favours.

You’re right, it’s a horrible thing to happen for all involved. The biker could just have been in the wrong place at the wrong time and no doubt more will be known about the cause in the fullness of time. It’s just so sad so many bikers are loosing their lives just lately, I think the previous one that was only about a mile or so away was on a Sunday too.

I set off for Oulton Park yesterday and only a couple of hundred meters from my drive an idiot pulled out of a junction as I started to pass. I had to swing around him to avoid hitting his front wing. Luckily there was no oncoming traffic, had there been I would have hit it head on.

I stopped got off the bike and opened his passenger door. I got the stock response from him “I didn’t see you”. Not even an apology, I was furious but decided to get back on the bike and ride away.

So you don’t have to be being an idiot to get caught out when out on your bike.

Oh yes, there are plenty of idiot drivers out there causing deaths and injuries to motorcyclists. Wim can confirm that. I had a near miss myself a few months ago.
I’m just saying that we don’t need to add to it by riding like idiots ourselves.

At least the chap who caused my mishap was apologetic. Most aren’t.

Yes you’ve got the nail on its lid!!

Last week where I’ve been working at ( a vehicle recovery firm) they recovered yet another motorcycle incident so bad I took a pic of it to shock myself

This chap (a learner) wasn’t involved with anyone in a collision although went under a crash barrier, never survived and lost his leg at the roadside ie it detached at his hip and bled to death. I’ve since driven past the accident point by pure fluke and its full of fairwell flowers. So……,
Best carry on fixing my bikes

Well that is really shocking and tragic for the lad and his family.

That’s horrible. What a waste of a life.

Isn’t it just. It happened on a dual carriageway on a bend and apparently he was trapped in the gap under the barrier. Think the recovery lad who picked it up was physically sick as he saw the remains.

I’m going to stop at this point talking about it.
