In 2023, 5x Enduro World Champion, Iván Cervantes, claimed the Guiness World Record for ‘The greatest distance on a motorcycle in 24 hours (individual)’.
He achieved the record on a Tiger 1200 GT Explorer at the High-Speed Ring at the Nardò Technical Center in Italy.
Iván racked up over 2493 miles (4012km) in a 24-hour period, completing 317 laps of the 7.86 mile (12.649km) circuit, beating the previous record of 2116.39 miles (3406km) by more than 372.82 miles (600km). To put that in perspective, it’s the equivalent of travelling from London to the Great Pyramid of Giza, or from New York City to Los Angeles, as the crow flies.
Riding consistently at speeds of over 124mph (200km/h), Iván surpassed the existing record with 5 hours to spare. With 18 pitstops, his average speed over the 24 hours was 104.26mph (167.79km/h).
The motorcycle was chosen at random from the production line at Triumph’s factory in Hinckley, UK and had no special modifications. All they did was complete the recommended running in and first service schedule. The only maintenance required on the bike during the 24 hours was a single, planned tyre change halfway through the attempt.
