With the year all but wrapped up, and the last of the On This Day posts in the can, time and attention is returning to the wider forum, what it does, what it does well, what it doesn’t do well, and how it can be a great place for all the members .
I’m looking for everyone’s feedback, including members who joined but we don’t see posting (is there a reason). Where it possible to do something requested, it’ll go on the to-do list for 2026.
Anyone can suggest whatever they like but not everything may be technically possible - I’ll explain why or why not to any suggestions, and I’ll try to implement as much as possible.
Do you find navigation confusing? Would you like more choices for how it looks and feels? Would more help, tips, cheat sheets or ‘how-to’ videos be helpful?
Some changes could easy, some more complex and may take longer. Workable suggestions from regulars will be put higher up the priority order as you’re the people that keep the forum alive but all ideas will be considered
Have a think and pass back your comments either on this thread, in a PM, or email them to admin@triumphmotorcycleforum.com if you prefer.
I’ll make the wishlist public in due course so you can see what’s coming up!.
Great forum, and the only thing I haven’t quite got the hang of is the Events section.
When I first joined I put up a list of Scottish events including multiple events at Knockhill Circuit, but I think they were expected individually and in a particular format to go into the events calendar?
Maybe I picked that up wrong, but I haven’t really tried again.
Otherwise, it’s a good place to be, even as a non-Triumph owner!
I am, maybe, more reluctant than usual to post anything because threads don’t flow. You won’t allow them to evolve, rather split them into their own post but if it’s just a quick ride out it really doesn’t warrant its own thread, just an extension of an existing one. This also means it is actually more difficult to find any of the threads as with the sheer volume they get lost in the clutter.
Others may disagree but that’s my thoughts on it.
I’m quite happy on the whole, but it’d be nice if we could post movie clips straight on the forum rather than having to convert them to Youtube first. I’m sure this was mentioned before and there was some obstacle?
The plug-in I used broke after an upgrade to some of the tech the forum uses, because the chap who created it voluntarily was busy doing his actual job. That gave access to Vimeo (which we had) or YouTube (which requires a palaver of authentication to be in place). I was getting through the Google requirements when the software stopped working.
I’ll see where that plug-in has got to or if anything else has been developed. It’s open source software so if nothing else works I may be able to fix it myselfb but that’s one of those longer, more complex things I mentioned.
I’ll also look at whether we could sustain the storage locally. Space isn’t a problem but I’ll have to do some sums and cost projections - video files can get pretty big.
It was already on the list but I’ll bump it up a bit.
Sometimes I find that my Apple phone and the reply section of a thread doesn’t gel… of course, when I’m writing this response it doesn’t do the weird thing (kinda hides the response box)… I’ll try and get a screenshot.
But the forum as a whole unit, I really enjoy. Most things seem simple enough to use and you’ve done some awesome work to keep a daily thread posting to maintain ongoing interest.
For me the forum is easy to navigate, and to keep up with threads, also to create posts.
I really enjoy the history threads that Saul posts on a regular basis.
Overall a really pleasant place to come and enjoy my biking interests.
Make sure you’re on the latest version of iOS. I’m using 26.3 on my phone. There was a bug in the initial v26 releases that looks like it’s been resolved.
The daily posts from me are done, now, apart from any corrections that may be needed. It was much more time consuming than I expected and quite tricky finding what to write about for some dates. There’s a whole year’s worth. You can start again from the beginning, tomorrow.
I do have a couple of ideas up my sleeve, purely Triumph-orientated, from the experience.
Of course, reading is fine and many people are doing that most of the time. If anyone is finding it tricky for any reason - where to post, how to do something - that’s what I want them to shout about. Obviously, you’re a veteran in these matters.
Me being not tech at all, when I do come on here any stories from the last time I choose to hop onto that I was interested in don’t get updated to the current time and I have to scroll through loads of pages just to get up to date.
