Dainese Smart Jacket D-Air airbagvest

Following my accident and seeing the results of it we got one of these for the mrs. today. Once my ribs have healed enough to try one on pain-free I will get one too. Quite light, and good reviews.

Knowing your experience Wim I can see the attraction for both of you. :slightly_smiling_face:

That’s right Steve - this’ll protect the entire torso, which is exactly where I got hit.

I think I’ll take a look at these given your experience.

Just another layer of protection, Neal. We are vulnerable, and if it’s within your possibility (and means, obviously) to protect yourself, why not?

A link for more details.

I take it there’s a subscription monthly or yearly? I do like that it can be used with any jacket out or inside.

Nope, no subscription. IF it goes off you send it back to the factory to reset…

My youngest lad has recently bought one of these. Dainese website is showing them at £518, down from £720. Sports bike shop £500 gents £20 more for ladies.

We got the mrs’ one for the equivalent of £430.

Is it vat exempt in :netherlands: ?

Nope, it is not… 21% VAT included. I’ve since seen them for sale as low as £360…

Are they VAT exempt in the UK? Isn’t it usually the case for safety equipment or am I making that up?

Crash helmets are vat exempt in the UK but that’s about it I think. Motorcycle protective clothing isn’t so I doubt airbag vests are either.

Not exactly consistent with the government’s drive to reduce the accident injust statistics.

Not exempt in UK, why I was asking Wim, if that was why cheaper there.
So just blame it on Brexit/Covid/Rishi/etc. :slightly_smiling_face:

Would these work :slightly_smiling_face:?

In all seriousness, all the new safety gears/equipment are welcome.
Last Friday I heard that one motorcyclist has died here (in traffic accident). Has been one kid of override situation, I do not know more

I’ve certainly been considering something like this. I feel like I don’t want to be riding encumbered but equally the lunatics we encounter on the road every day, especially in the nice weather like yesterday, make you think. The amount of times you have to avoid other motorcyclists and cars coming at you head on seems to have increased hugely recently, never mind tailgaters, people driving distracted etc etc.

It probably would have prevented my 6 ribs being broken - from what I’ve seen when it was on the mrs. when she was trying it on it shouldn’t be encumbering. Pretty light, not bulky at all.
