Don't come to Bath

The local council have put out a consultation document regarding increasing parking charges for all motor vehicles including starting to apply charges to Motorcycles relating to emissions. The charges for a bike over 600cc is related to an equivalent motor vehicle over 2900cc. Bath is predominently covered by Parking Permits which includes costly permits for motorcycles.

Best advice, stay away.

Another scheme to tax the public in the guise of eco-friendlinessā€¦ this country at the moment is getting on my wick! I love England and the whole of the British Isles, but between the bat-shit governing bodies and the increase of skill-less, hand-out sucking leechesā€¦ I do feel like Iā€™m the filling in a shit sandwich at timesā€¦ :poop: :grimacing: :poop:

Iā€™m away to crawl back under my rock

Youā€™re not aloneā€¦ plenty of those hereā€¦

Iā€™m happily retired and donā€™t watch the ā€˜newsā€™. I live in blissful ignorance and find everything is actually rather lovely :slightly_smiling_face:

Well mine seem to have 0 g/km emissions, bet they wonā€™t go with that

That would be a good example of ā€œthe bat-shit governing bodyā€ wearing the blue suit would it???
Please donā€™t let any implication of racism be thrust in my statement, there was very carefully none thereā€¦ I work in the NHS, for whom the skilled migrant community is essential and generally pleasant addition (there are always individuals to taint the pot).
The skill-less leeches may belong to my race, religion, ethnicity as much as anyone elseā€™s! Itā€™s the fact that they take from society without putting back that bothers meā€¦ isnā€™t that an issue to be upset about?

So you might not have heardā€¦
Youā€™ll be needing an extra cardy this winter when the ā€œWinter Fuel Paymentā€ doesnā€™t arrive.
(Probably doesnā€™t mean much to most of us old wrinkleys on here - but a taste of things to come - I think)

I donā€™t want to make this politicalā€¦

You make such a good point there. You know it is not just winter fuel allowance Revees has taken away, but this lot have also scrapped new proposed cap on what we can keep fromĀ£86k back to the current Ā£23,500 after they have robbed us of our savings to pay for our care.

It makes you wonder if saving for a pension and our retirement has been worth it. It seems as if you are on benefits you will get everything paid for by the state.

Fortunately, a man of my maturity and good taste already possesses a fine collection of Cardys :+1:

Yeah, Iā€™m fortunate enough to have a company pension that was paid in for 20yrs that tops up my state pension.
My son is a self employed forester, with partner and 2 young kids to support, I know he wonā€™t be building a pension at the moment. Would it be good advice to encourage him to do so, probably not. :man_shrugging:

Edit: and donā€™t even get me started on inheritance tax!

The man in the blue suit looks like Rupert Murdoch to me, stirring up hostility to minorities to distract peopleā€™s attention from his fellow billionaire leeches who have really taken nearly all the cookies. Divide and rule.
Yes, there are small-fry parasites as well, whom I donā€™t like either, but itā€™s the big ones stashing their wealth away in tax havens who bother me most.

P.S. I didnā€™t intend to visit Bath anyway, but I certainly wonā€™t now! :astonished:

Which is just outright theft, taxing which has already been taxed. :rage:

Just the same as VAT, fuel tax, etc., then. The money has got to come from somewhere. At least inheritance tax is based on ability to pay, unlike VAT and fuel tax.

Not necessarily - what if funds are tied up in bricks? That particular tax just doesnā€™t feel fair.

Cities have less and less money from the government. Thatā€™s a common point with our 2 countries

Our 3 countriesā€¦

Then consider road tax in the uk. For the first time last year they increased it by the rpi which is like a tax that is being taxed.
Awesome

Not really. Itā€™s keeping pace with inflation. Not unlike pensions under the triple lockā€¦
