Speed Scotland Mini Break

I got away for a few days starting Tuesday morning after I put the dog into kennels so around 10.30 I headed to Thurso. On my tod, and with bookings in Hostels and no real route. Followed a Queensland number plate on a BMW GS from Forres to Inverness.

Stopped in to Dunrobbin Castle, for some food, weather was dry but chilly for riding.

then back on the bike and headed up to Wick I’d head about this statue being unveiled the day before , on Radio Scotland and wanted to see for myself.

assed that Queensland plate again in John o Groates and spoke to him in Ullapool, turns out he had the bike shipped to UK and hopes to ride overland ( preferably) to Singapore the ship home again.

Really thought provoking stuff.
Then it was off to John o Groats
Then Thurso. I had an Indian a couple of pints and off to bed.

I made a point of stopping for picks, but bare in mind so of the best views were too good not to be enjoyed.

Next day was spent going along the coast to

Durness then down through fantastic roads to Ullapool a home cooked Steak and Noodles with Mushrooms and Onions.

The Caledonian Hotel has been done up since my last visit and the charges have been altered to match.

Steor Lighthouse you can rent it out for a holiday. Single track roads with bloody motorhomes everywhere buy spaced out enough so you do get to enjoy your day.

I’ve fixed your post. The tags had got a bit messed up. If you want single pics, leave a blank line between each upload. If you put each one right below the other it’ll create a masonry view. You can see both on your post.

Nore help here if you want it:

Thanks for the help.

Nice one James. How many miles? I remember doing the road from Durness to Tongue with Dougie. It was a belter!

There are so many fantastic roads around there. Cut short the trip, I was supposed to be in Oban tonight but the fork seals made me cut it short, I spotted the leak a couple of days ago but it was getting worse. I think I made the right choice when I looked at it when I got home. 750 miles Andy.

Great trip James. I’m really jealous, I love riding up in Scotland, it’s so beautiful and the roads are so quiet.

Even compared with Aberdeenshire and even when the majority of cars/vans are tourists, they are quiet  and curved :grin:and twisty. I think I’m in love.

Superb pictures!

Scotland and Wales both offer fantastic roads and scenery. This island of ours offers brilliant options for vacations and tours.

You just have to take a gamble with the weather
