Things that yank your chain

I do that too…except I shout out “its ok, I’ve turned the bathroom light out”.

Yep…that’s in my repertoire too :flushed:.

Some of our contemporaries from school do (though not many)… we’ve been married 31 years… But it took a while before I realised where to put it!

Medal on the way-for the wife :+1:t3:

Went in to the dentist earlier this week to have a loose crown sorted, dentist decided I needed a new crown and to remove an old filling and re-do it ££££££. Temporary crown and filling fell out next day ggggrrrrr. Turned up 8.30 this morning for new crown and it hasn’t arrived with the courier, I now have to wait until next Tuesday with a smile that looks like a broken piano keyboard :grimacing:

I have waited for a year for a root canal (private dentist as unable to get an NHS dentist here). Went the other week for said root canal appointment to then be told that the tooth was too tricky for them to do and needed a specialist as the tip of one root sat just into my sinus so was very risky and the roots weren’t straight either. This was determined from x - rays taken when it was originally decided that I needed one and then just before Christmas when I got that awful infection (due to said tooth needing a root canal filling…). I am guessing x rays weren’t reviewed until just prior to my appointment as there was no new information :face_with_raised_eyebrow:.

I’m to the dentist this afternoon…they are going private soon, so this is my last NHS appointment… :frowning:

Not a problem, Pat. Don’t smile: just scowl like I do.

We have an NHS appointment later this month. We are expecting to be told that the practice will be going private. It boils my piss that the government are not supporting dentist contracts so they can afford to treat folk under the NHS. :slightly_frowning_face:

NHS dentists appear to do one part of a job then, as they put it, keep an eye on, the next part so they can charge you twice. All due to the rubbish contracts. I pray the rest of the NHS doesn’t follow the same path :worried:

I’m NHS and changed dentist recently when we moved, luckily my new dentist accepted me as an NHS patient so new crown is £110 not £245 if I was private. GP’s will be going the same way if the tories get back in.

I had a problem with a root, long story, but my dentist (NHS) referred me to the NHS dental hospital service, where they removed some bone from my jaw and eventually got out a root in the shape of a fish hook. They do such things as reconstruction after accidents etc so are specialists in this area. Is your local NHS hospital service not an option?

Apparently needs referral from an NHS dentist. I won’t be able to afford (or more accurately am not prepared to afford as the cost is thousands) to save the tooth under the private specialist so will need to opt for extraction (will still be eye - wateringly expensive as requires said specialist) but do believe that an NHS dentist about 36 miles away is taking patients and there is no longer a geographic requirement, so may well try to register there. I don’t resent charges for treatment as mots of us have them, but do feel like there’s very much a two - tier system here.

When I lived in Somerset I used to go to Bristol Dental hospital, you could get completely free treatment if you agreed the work to be done by a dentistry student supervised by a qualified dentist/lecturer. The result was just the same as every dentist I’ve ever been to.

That seems so unfair after all it’s a NHS service. I’m sure they have their reasons. Good luck.

I did the same when I lived in Birmingham. There were six of us all in dentist chairs in a line. They started injections at one end, by the time the last was injected, the first was ready for work etc… Had 2 impacted wisdom teeth done at once, easy peasy and they seemed competent!

Worth a thought; nearest place to me is about 1h 20 away according to Google maps.
