Tuesdays. There is no point to Tuesdays. Monday’s been and gone so we’re over that. Wednesday is hump day but no one cares about a day who’s claim to fame is that it’s Wednesday eve. The weekend is still too far off to get excited about and anyway, that’s what Thursdays are for. Tuesdays are just rubbish.

Every day’s a Saturday or Sunday for me…none of that w*rk malarkey anymore
Do the house"work" (hoovering) on Mondays so Tuesday is the first day of a 6 day weekend.

Household energy bills increased by 54% in April 2022 and were due to increase by a further 80% in October. The new Energy Price Guarantee limited the October increase to 27%, with a further increase of 20% in April 2023.

In my mind it is difficult to understand how this level of profit can be justified when Joe public (us) are paying through the nose for our energy. It is down to the government to take action against these companies

All the public utilities should be nationalised (in many cases re-nationalised) and run on a not-for-profit basis. Water, gas, electricity and railways are all essential services and should be run for the benefit of the public, not to generate massive profits for shareholders and fat cat CEOs and board members.

AND… KitKat maker Nestle has said it will raise its prices again this year, despite an 8.2% increase in 2022.
Don’t get me started on price rises. EE have raised their prices by 14% this year and ADT 14.5% which is just taking the piss.

We’ve just had a letter from the government advising us that the £200 they’re giving to heating oil users like us is actually going towards our electricity bill that we can only claim back as cash if we’re in credit with our electricity supplier. We are in credit but that’s not the point, being tret like children that we’re not to be trusted with our own money…gggrrrrrr

The whole system seems bizarre to me anyway, why aren’t they making these payments via government resources such as council tax payment refunds. There have been features on our local news where people living in “park homes” where they pay for gas / electric indirectly through the park owner and aren’t getting their payments.
Conversely, because my domestic garage and shed is at the bottom of my garden some distance from the cottage it has a seperate electric supply and account.
So I’m getting two lots of handouts! (we are on oil - no gas here)
Which makes a nice change.
Because of late it’s mostly a disadvantage, supply companies no longer do accounts with a zero standing charge which is a real pain with such a low usage (garage door opener, charging the bikes and occasional lighting doesn’t amount to much).
