Probably quite different for the route you’re considering, but definitely not the case for Plymouth-Santander or Roscoff. Even pre-booking in the past I’ve had to change plans because they’re not accepting any more bikes on the dates I wanted. I assume they set a limit to how many “tie-down” positions they have.
