Today I have mostly been thinking about my upcoming trip to the Balkans. Ordering more stuff, and generally been excited about it! 1,5 weeks to departure!
Funny I was thinking the other day it must be soon… you lucky sod! I hope you have a great time
Cheers Andy. It’ll be taxing I’m sure, long days, but I’m really looking forward to it!
I can’t begin to imagine the sort of adventure you’re in for, fair play to you! What an experience it will be ![]()
I reckon 3.500 miles in 14 days, which is an average of 245 a day - however, first and last days will be more, so there’s room for some relaxation along the way. From what I’ve seen it’ll be worth it for most of the scenery though!
Leave now, you need an extra week! ![]()
And if you bought a new satnav for your new Tiger make sure you FULLY understand the nuances of its route calculations BFORE you leave. They might not be the same as your old satnav.
Just a word from the wiser now. ![]()
A good point @Col_C . In addition @Vulpes (Wim) make sure you have the full european maps loaded. I once went on tour and hadn’t loaded the full maps, which made for an interesting trip when I got to Switzerland ![]()
I use the same satnav (Tomtom Rider 550) I’ve had for years on both the Tiger and Speedy, Colin. That should not be a problem.
Excellent point Steve - I just checked and all countries I ride through are represented on the map loaded.
Today I have moistly been… commuting

Edit - I thought I had done a review on my 2nd hand waterproofs (Oxford Mondials) this last period of summer has finally seen them give up the ghost … insidious ingress rather than rapid flooding… I hope to reconstitute them somewhat with a re proofing spray though!
Our postmen use to use them, but painted red when they were still the GPO ah halcyon days.
Inside and out…you’re not as young as you were ![]()
Spent today helping the memsahib with a changeover at our holiday cottage. Saudi Arabian family left at 11am, Australian family arriving 4.30 pm, so a mad scramble to change beds, clean kitchen and bathrooms, etc. Both families were delightful people, and not only did the Saudis leave us a box of Arabian sweets (dates with tahini centres and coated with sesame seeds), but they left us a large pan of spicy rice with chicken, which we’ve just heated up and eaten for dinner. Wow, it was good. I’ve always liked spicy Indian food, but this involved a different range of flavours altogether, both hottish and fragrant. Arabian cooking obviously deserves far more attention than it gets in this country. Sorry no pics: we’ve eaten it all…
According to internet rules it didn’t happen then…
I don’t care, I’ve swallowed the evidence.
Who are you, Monica Lewinsky?
