We’ve stayed in Castle Douglas years ago, a nice BnB in a farm.
That day we switched on the TV set and the first news was the passing of Amy Winehouse…
Mull and Iona are well worth a visit. Fingall’s cave is very impressive!
We’ve stayed at the Buccleuh, and are booked in again early July.
This is the sort of thing I used. It applies pressure and supports the damaged area. Don’t know if it’ll help you but it’s worth a look?
Filled in an application form to join another golf club. I’ve been at my current one since 2001 and never thought I’d leave but the current management don’t seem to have any interest in trying to look after their members. There’s a waiting list where I want to go so it won’t be a quick exit, but it will be an expensive one
Perhaps you should join a Links, I have some old guys come on the bus twice a week , they have a membership of another club just for Winter, better drainage cos of sand and so less closures.
I would James, but the nearest links course to me is in Weston-super-Mare 85 miles away which is a bit far to travel
The one I’ve applied to is a heathland course and on sand so that’s about as near as I’ll get. AFAIK they’ve only been shut on 2 seperate days so far this winter when you wouldn’t want to play anyway unless you were a complete masochist. Our place is on clay and as well as being shut for around 50 days so far this winter almost without exception the rest of the time trollies (which men of a certain age need as it’s a long hilly course) have been restricted to the tarmac buggy path which goes around the whole course and it’s a complete nightmare.
Anyway it wasn’t my decision, the wife made me do it…
Your last sentence applies to so many aspects of life
As you might guess she’s a batter as well and she’s not been backward about telling me how p1ssed off she is about the whole saga which hasn’t exactly helped my mad dwarf either. Upwards and onwards…
My MiL is 90 in June and still plays, and wins tournaments, twice a week. She gets really frustrated when the course is closed
We are lucky, as I’ve said before, our golf course is on chalk on top of the Chiltern Hills so we’ve not had many days when the course has been shut. We’ve had more “ no trolley” days this year than I can ever remember due to the rain but the course has remained open.
HS2 are digging a cutting about a mile from the course and it’s like looking at the White Cliffs of Dover as you drive past, pure white chalk.
Winning twice a week is quite a feat!
Taking delivery of this, a rear hugger for my Tiger. At € 30 it’s an absolute bargain (yes, from 中国… but I’ve seen the exact same item advertised for GBP 150+ on ebay, and as my safety does not depend upon it I thought it was worth the risk). Looks like a decent bit of kit. It didn’t come with fitting instructions though, so might be a challenge to fit…
Nothing wrong with being made in China. I was made there myself, and I haven’t quite broken down yet.
And they make pretty good food, too. I spent about 8 months there, north to south, east to west. Loved it.
Just out of interest, whereabouts, Dave?
No problem with some oriental goods! I got a hugger from Aliexpress for my 900. It sat a bit squewiff until a washer tipped it over a little. Does the job at a fraction of the price of a branded one.
Hong Kong. My dad was in the navy and was stationed there after the war. Wives were allowed to join them.
Ooh, I liked Hongkong! I imbibed quite a bit at Ned Kelly’s Last Stand (jazzclub in Kowloon). Had friends (Cathay pilot) in Sai Kung, too. Loved the Star Ferries!
But I suppose Hongkong was technically on lease to Britain then?
