Today I have mostly been

I used to play off 11 but every time I was out on the course I wanted to be on the bike. Didn’t have the time to do both, figured you can always take golf back up in later life but you can’t really do the same with bikes so bats sold and never looked back :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

You’ll have time to do both when you’re retired, providing you get sign off from Mrs HV of course🤪 it’d be a bit disapointing if we all liked the same thing wouldn’t it.

According to the forecast, April is going to start with the same good weather that March did, so thought I’d take another opportunity for a couple of nights away, this time to the Yorkshire Dales.

So today I spent a few hours trying to find some accommodation that met my criteria, i.e. not much more than £100 a night, accepting a short 2 night stay, and with somewhere to park bike that isn’t on a main road or in a pub carpark.

Coniston blue, not a 330 million year old, metamorphic stone used for high quality roofing… it’s just the colour of my favourite lake today!

Thanks for the sentiment, but at my age I think my fighting fit days are well gone  I’ll be glad to get shut of it

I visited in capital (Helsinki) this weekend to follow Synchronized skating World Championships 2025. Finland had two teams (via earlier years results) … and they took Gold medals and Silver medals.

What else? The old snow has almost melted, but it’s still constantly below 0 celsius at nights. Lakes are still frozen. I think I still have to wait about a month to start riding.

The apprentices at work came to see me this afternoon as I won’t see them all again before I retire next week, and brought me something

Can you tell I like Yorkshire Tea
A card full of lovely comments and a photo from when another guy and I helped rescue two horses from a horsebox on the M6 while on a work trip.I could be an action hero :slightly_smiling_face:

Today I did a tiny bit more of the bike maintenance work, but for most of the day I’ve been laying on the ground with my head down a shitty manhole whilst I chisel out ancient and knackered benching and scraped out shitty sludge from the leaks. Then I mixed up loads of mortar to create some new benching. Mrs mouse is away so I was making use of the time where I can put the toilet out of action for a day whilst mortar sets (hopefully!)

Indeed. Today I have mostly been visiting a friend in hospital in Amsterdam. She slipped on the stairs and broke her neck, initially resulting in paralysis from the neck down. Fortunately she’s slightly improved, and can now move very short distances with a walker. Still no use of her hands though. If you’re still fit, count your blessings…

Proudly watching my granddaughter in a schools shooting competition (now there’s a phrase you won’t hear in nanny state UK!) over in New Zealand… that’s clay pidgeon shooting, and great to see so many schools from different areas getting together in close competition.

No trophies for our team though…
