Well, it’s dry and sunny today, and I don’t have any pressing need to be working anywhere, so a good day for a bike ride, you might think. But not for me today, I’m afraid: at 27 degrees here, it’s too effing hot! Having lived continuously in Scotland’s cool climate for over 50 years now, I just don’t like serious heat. About 20 degrees suits me best. Anything much more is just plain uncomfortable. So good luck to anyone planning a summer trip to the Mediterranean: I don’t envy you at all!
So instead I’ve been pottering about doing little jobs in the shade. Most notably so far, I’ve been installing a spare wheel mounting above the wheel arch inside my bigger van. (The Vivaro, like most vans, carries its spare wheel outside, underneath the back, where the carrier seizes up with rust when you most need it. Don’t ask how I know.) The wheel now sits happily in the dry out of the way on top of the wheel arch, held steady to the side of the van by a wingnut and a ratchet strap. So the day hasn’t been entirely wasted.
Perhaps a cool beer might be in order soon.
It is in Stalybridge, south Manchester. It was brilliant, I had such a good time, which included a good ride on the tiger to get there and back. Mind it is quite difficult to control the jet, but soooo much fun.
Too blimmin hot for the last four days to do anything other than indoors stuff. No Braais, nothing outside, not even riding. So, remember that alien tank, well, it now looks like this:
Hoping it’ll cool down a bit in the morrow so I can get some lacquer on it. Should bling up the gold a treat Petunia. And get at least one shakedown done. Thankyou…over
Amal parts came as I’ve been strugglin’ with what I though was a carb issue. That old saying was niggling me - electrical issues are usually carbs and carb issues are usually electrical.
New jets, new needles installed, pilot jets cleaned and…first kick. Brrrrrm, Sorted. Blast round the block. Ripper
Today I’ll be watching “Le Tour de France” as they climb to “Le Cormet de Roselend”.
We rode over there last septembre with Wim @Vulpes and that was a very nice road.
Yes, the opening sequence with Pitt driving in the 24 hours of Daytona to “Whole lotta love” is excellent.
Pays to know something about F1 otherwise you won’t appreciate the cameo appearances
Yes, that was a great sequence. Obviously far fetched but a great intro.
The sound track was well selected and our cinema has a brilliant speaker system.
So this morning I thought I’d play the sound track …….Not the same at home and a lot of the tracks were edited to get their best bits….
Most of the tracks were shite without the film..!
