Too Hot ………

You’re not wrong. There are wildfires raging no more than 50 miles from where l’m sitting, it’s been mid to high 30s pretty much every day, but the kids are still going to school. There is an element of culture in it l guess-our media likes to keep us in fear and teachers are all for a cheeky day off, but these are potentially dangerous temperatures, not least because they are a bit unusual for us. And @NealH, only 15 conservative days sounds like heaven to me. You clearly have the true blue predictive text activated!

2 inchs of snow February and they’ll be talking about the big freeze, roads at a standstill and Tesco running out of anti freeze and snow shovels…again.

I will be in Colorado on Monday where it’s going to be 37 degrees with thunderstorms! At least they have aircon everywhere in the States though. Hot  Cold  Hot  Cold

In fact, flying out of Denver a few years ago during a thunderstorm was the first time I have experienced a moment of weightlessness as the plane dropped during severe turbulence. :fearful:

The entire scientific world: The Earth is getting dangerously hotter and threatens our very existence

Dave936 on Twitter: I was 9 in 1976 and I remember it being hot. There’s nothing to worry about, have an ice cream

Climate change is very real, the evidence is overwhelming.

I think Dave’s point on twitter is that in the U.K., three days at 30+ degrees probably isn’t going to kill us, despite what the media would have us believe.

*It’s humour, hence the smiley face.

I don’t even know if there is a Dave 396 on Twitter

Have an ice cream and mitch off school, recommended :ok_hand:

When I was a kid at school and it got really hot, we were allowed to take our school ties off.
Kids of today eh ? molleycoddled or what ?
And we walked to school or caught the (on time) bus.

took the bike, and the water temp gauge displayed 1 hot bar before the engine was on :grinning:
Despite that, are some of you give up long trousers and bike jacket to ride?
I personnaly don’t but see a lot of “retired” bikers on shorts + T Shirt over there :open_mouth:

Yes it is the same here in the UK. Young and older riders who should know better ride in shorts and tee shirts.

Caution to be taken in the hot weather… :joy:

I never ride without protective gear these days. Bike jeans as a minimum and a jacket. I’ve got those short Alpinestar boots that are cooler and more comfortable than full size footwear while still protecting vulnerable ankles.

Only once did I ride in shorts, it was in Spain coming home from a motoGP. And I discovered it’s of no real advantage because when your legs are bare, you just feel the heat from the engine instead.

And get sun burn…. :rage:

Round here it’s called “welsh leathers”

I’ve just run an errand on the Thruxton jeans, boots and leather jacket. Coming in the opposite direction was a bloke in shorts and a tee shirt. It is madness to take the risk even if you are only going a short distance.
Mind back in the day, shorts tee shirt and no helmet was often the dress for the day lol.

It’s hugely tempting to ride with minimal kit and enjoy the weather but, as you say, the risk and ease at which you can pick up horrendous injuries is too much. Down to the bone in under 2 seconds skidding along the tarmac at 30mph? No thanks.
