Our trip to Spain that was postponed when Covid spoilt everyone’s party is on for April/May, hopefully. Checked the ferries and dates; need to get booked in now.
I checked prices for Plymouth-Santander return last week (admittedly with outside window cabin) but almost £1k !!!
I would normally have booked by now as it fills up quickly, but prices have risen yet again and heard from a few sources that the Picos is really busy now (my last visit was 10-15 yrs ago), I more often head East out of the ferry.
So I’m still cogitating…
I’ve also heard bikes are banned in parts of the Pico’s?
Certainly on some of the higher minor roads in the Pyrenees. Haven’t heard they’ve done similar in the Picos, but then I haven’t really checked there?
Aren’t there some weekend bike bans in Germany or Austria too?
(Or was that caravans
)
An internal cabin from Portmouth - Santander, coming back via Bilbao, was just about the same - a gnat’s whisker under a grand. That price is for two bikes.
That is some impressive travelling!
Checked the prices of the Hull to Rotterdam ferry, £440 with a cabin May end up sharing with snorers but that’ll still be a bit over £300.
So, now have ferry tickets for Europe after urgent message from friend who said he’d found there was only 5 bike places left so he’d got tickets for us three on hold for the next half hour and should he click ‘buy’? Apparently we’re travelling TT week, though you’d think it wouldn’t be as busy for us as we’re travelling the opposite way to people coming for the TT (out day before race day, coming home day after last race).
Let me know if ye make it down to Cork / Kerry and I’ll see if I ca meet ye (if ye are up for it) - based in Cork city.
I’ll keep that in mind mate, cheers!
Decided to do the Triumph Owners Club Landmark Challenge. 50 places to visit and photograph your bike there to prove it.
I just booked Rotterdam-Hull for May, €210 one way…
One way? You doing a runner?
Snow should have just about gone by then….
Still plenty here at the minute…
I’ve done all the clues, my coloured thumb tacks have arrived, now waiting for my A1 map of the UK and some warmer tarmac…
Is this a regional thing or do you travel all over the UK?
Prep for the warmer weather
Convert tubed rims to tubeless with the help of a well known wheel builder. Can’t wait to not worry about tubes this year its perfect timing as need new tyres anyway
In terms of biking plans nothing in the calendar just yet
