Hi Neal, it’s all over the UK.
That looks like quite a challenge! Have you worked out how many miles it will take to visit them all?
No. I’m not to bothered about mileage. I’m unlikely to ride on the continent this year, so touring the UK will be a nice change. Just hoping for some reasonable weather to do it in. A group of us may tour Scotland in September, so that end of the country will probably be the last area to cover. I will probably start in the the South West and work my way across to the South East and centre. Wales is local to me so that may be a series of day trips on the Bonneville. Long weekends etc will be on the 900.
The Ireland trip is taking shape. I’ll meet @Wessa and @AndyPandy in Penrith, travelling to Northern Ireland together the next day, where we’ll hook up with @Andyc1 .
I’ll start a dedicated thread nearer the time.
The Reghed Centre is just off the motorway at Penrith. Could be a good meetup point?
Could well be - I’m planning to ride up via Sizergh/Bowness/Troutbeck/Kirkstone. Not sure what route the others are taking, presumably the M6.
Sounds good! I can meet you somewhere along that route and ride up with you
Sounds like a great idea!
This what I think I’ll do - 166 miles, avoiding motorways. We could meet at The Brown Horse?
All things falling into place (weather etc) I could meet you at Devils Bridge for a brew and ride from there!
A mate of mine has shown a bit of interest but he can’t ride so far atm.
Plenty of time to get organised
Yep, Kirkby Lonsdale is en route! We’ll get it sorted in due time.
@DCS222 obviously we’ll keep you in the loop, if interested!
Absolutely… we’ll see how me plans for bike change go… cos then I could bring my old lady
My plans for his year are to get my turd GSX250SSM to a state I can use it as it’s never been used in my ten year ownership. Possibly two good bike trips on my 9T overseas, one round the circumference of Austria covering all the areas off radar possibly by myself and another with a mate Gary Jay on a different trip. I also want to enjoy the simpler bikes I have too like a couple of my MZs.
Just booked a motorcycle tour on Gran Canaria for Helmut and I for some leave we have in March. Reckon warm temperatures, dry roads, good scenery and sunshine should be just the ticket.
That should be great! Excellent idea.
I’m hoping the SV650 is free as a lot of the other bikes are pretty tall (I don’t want the Rebel!).
Edited - just seen the Honda 750x has a seat height suitable for the vertically - challenged too .
That looks reasonable value to me? I think TMF has done several tours with them in the past so if you’re having difficulty sleeping one night…
I didn’t read all the blurb as I’m on my daftfone and I’m feeling all tired and emulsional after a day’s skiing but my travel insurance only covers me to ride a hire bike below 125cc (my own there’s no restriction) so make sure both of you are covered.
We will of course require feedback on how it went
I am bit of a researcher so have been watching YouTube reviews from various “influencers” - as much as I can stand of them anyway . I have also just purchased some insurance that covers us appropriately as our normal insurance is also below 125cc and flights to get us there, so I am very excited now
.
It does seem like very good value and the reviews are almost all excellent so fingers crossed.
Hope you’re enjoying the skiing (and apres ski!!).
I was quite surprised by the cost for singleton riders, normally the difference would be quite a bit more and I’m sure you’ll have a great time. As I’m less tall too if you’d been a size 9 boot I could have leant you my Daytona M stars
Ah apres ski. For me after 4 courses and some nice Italian wine to go with it I’m normally ready for beddybies by 9 o’clock.
I am actually a size 8 boot . No idea how
.
My Fireblade is tall, but skinny at the front and so well balanced so I feel OK on it height - wise. As lots of these routes are on hilly hairpins I’d feel better getting a solid foot down when needed!! I am sure they are used to the less blessed - of - height and direct us to the most suitable bike. Looks like the NC750 is an 800m seat height so that would be fine if the SV is taken. The Rebel just doesn’t appeal although their site says it’s for us shorter folk .
