Well the good news is the brakes on the trophy are lovely again once I’d removed the stainless steel heat shield from the back of the new pads. The bad news is while out on a test ride today I filled up with petrol at a supermarket and 100 yds or so up the road I noticed the idle was about 100-200 rpm higher than normal then the engine started to stumble under load… 
It only got worse, not pulling cleanly under load. Got it home and now the diags have to start. Called the supermarket to see if anyone had complained about the fuel, they were polite but as helpful as a chocolate teapot. I suppose I should drain the full fuel tank and try some fresh fuel. Trouble is I don’t have the containers to hold it. Then start on the basics, connectors tight, plugs, ht leads, coils then crankshaft position sensor. I’ll try it again tomorrow and see if it’s a heat thing. It’s a shame because I was planning a trip to Scotland in June on it (as my trip to Italy has been rescheduled to later in the year) and of course this adds doubts in my mind if it isn’t simply the fuel.
