What You Been Doing With Your Triumph Today

So with clear blue skies today I would normally be heading out for a ride, but I think it has earned a week off  Instead it got a touch free clean (wasn’t especially dirty), an oil top-up and a cleaned and lubed chain, as it had done 1000 miles last week without any care.

Talking of miles, I’m insured for 10k a year which isn’t going to be enough, so I rang insurers to get another 3k. Then, because I forgot to earlier, rang back to check my fully comp insurance is valid in Europe, it is, so I’m OK for Ireland in June  Except that I’m going to need a new rear tyre before then, and probably a new front when I get back.

Decided not to order new tyres yet because I don’t have a good place to store them outside, and they smell too much for inside. I can get the brake pads now though, just waiting for Sportsbikeshop to price match me with Demon Tweeks, they make it really easy and usually don’t take long to respond. (Actually about 10 minutes, quicker that it took me to finish this post  ) Motorcycles are expensive things, I spend half my pension maintaining and using bike!

That’s a good reason why the government should give a pension supplement to OAP’s who run a bike. After all, it keeps you fit and healthy so saving on NHS funds. :grinning:

Well the good news is the brakes on the trophy are lovely again once I’d removed the stainless steel heat shield from the back of the new pads. The bad news is while out on a test ride today I filled up with petrol at a supermarket and 100 yds or so up the road I noticed the idle was about 100-200 rpm higher than normal then the engine started to stumble under load… :grimacing: It only got worse, not pulling cleanly under load. Got it home and now the diags have to start. Called the supermarket to see if anyone had complained about the fuel, they were polite but as helpful as a chocolate teapot. I suppose I should drain the full fuel tank and try some fresh fuel. Trouble is I don’t have the containers to hold it. Then start on the basics, connectors tight, plugs, ht leads, coils then crankshaft position sensor. I’ll try it again tomorrow and see if it’s a heat thing. It’s a shame because I was planning a trip to Scotland in June on it (as my trip to Italy has been rescheduled to later in the year) and of course this adds doubts in my mind if it isn’t simply the fuel.

Very little; swapped it’s place in the garage for the Honda for the commute tomorrow! It was absolutely gorgeous weather here today but I had to work from home so I could get to a dental appointment in the middle of the day so just had to daydream about riding instead of actually doing it . That approach does save fuel though… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:.

Well, I’m a bit late to the party this year. My access track finally dried out after the winter about three weeks ago, since when any day that was nice enough for a decent ride has been taken up with unavoidable tasks and appointments. I’ve looked on with envy while other people posted about their rides. However, today at last was dry and sunny and free of commitments, so I finally got the Street Twin out of the garage and spent the day giving it a good clean and check over. It fired up right away and runs cleanly, despite last season’s petrol, so I’m all set for a good ride on the next free dry day. Thursday or Friday are looking good at the moment…

Not the dreaded root canal problem/abscess/extraction?

Sort of…a consultation with the specialist endodontist I have been referred to to see whether he can do it. He can at the end of May. At a price that is eye - watering :exploding_head:.

I met my mate Paul and headed out for ride into Shropshire. Stopped off in Markey Drayton for coffee before heading to Mid Way for a bacon and sausage sarnie. And then home for a couple of pints in the local. :grinning:

Buggering it up… It had problems so I worked on it and it now has more problems…

A beautiful morning. As we have a national holiday in honour of the King’s birthday we had a wee ride.

That’s a big beast that’s for sure.
Just in case there’s any doubt, I’m talking about the bike.

You’re not wrong - I hopped from the tiger onto the street triple to go and fill it up… It felt like I hopped on a mosquito…

I put another 120 miles on it today.

Had a solo jaunt up to Coniston and Tilberthwaite just because
Had a brew at Herdwick Cafe in Coniston and got a discount for being on a motorcycle, which was nice :slightly_smiling_face:

Got home just as the sun came out. Typical :sun_with_face:
