What You Been Doing With Your Triumph Today

Bath time for both bikes today.

I finished cleaning up the trophys front brake pistons plus installing new pads, nothing is ever quick with me and the bike… I ran out of time for a test ride so no idea if I’ve created any new problems :scream: yet.

A glorious morning, so mrs. V and I went out for a couple of hours.

Stopped for a coffee, enjoying the sunshine.

Today I took the Street Triple and Helmut the Tuono to the outskirts of Cheltenham to run an errand. Very chilly and a bit foggy when we set out but soon warmed to chilly rather than very for the rest of the day .

We went to Gloucester Airport for a coffee and some lunch and it became apparent from the amount of spotters on the way in that there was something good there…which turned out to be a Vampire which was brilliant; Helmut got a few photos and videos :grinning:. We also saw a Meteor come on to land. After that we returned home via Dom’s Bike Stop so got some good mileage in today on some great roads to ride :+1:.

Well, I took the trophy out for a spin to check on the new front pads etc, nowhere special just around some back lanes. They weren’t rotating as freely as I’d hoped. Where I’d expect a full rotation from spinning the wheel I got about a quarter spin. Damn. Checked the fluid level and I was about 1-2 mm above max, so drained some. Nope, maybe a third of a rotation. So I cleaned the disc bobbins on the floating discs with brake cleaner, hey presto full rotation… Applied the brakes and tried again, same result full roation, so back to normal. Not certain of the reason, but I’ll take it for now. :grinning:
Now got a good reason to go for another test ride. :+1:

Today was designated DRIVE IT &/or RIDE IT Day …

… a day of ‘events’ where older vehicles are, in effect, used to support and promote the NSPCC’s CHILDLINE charity. Although I’m personally not a particularly child-centric person (never wanted any; never had any - then married a woman with four of 'em - ‘go figure’ as our septic cousins might say!) I thought there was a bit of synergy in the fact that my wife does some volunteering with NYAS - the National Youth Advocacy Service - and I have some older/classic vehicles! The volunteering she does involves her meeting fairly regularly with a young teenaged boy who’s in long term foster care and so my wife’s frequently looking for ‘different’ things to do with the boy so I asked if he might like to take a drive out in the convertible, I’d take a ride out on the Speed and maybe we could ermmmmm … “meet at a meet”. So to speak.

So, I dragged the Jag. out of its long (2 years? been busy, busy, busy!) hibernation; MoT’d, insured and taxed it within the space of a fortnight; ordered the ‘charity plates’ - which aren’t mandatory, by the way - and spent a long couple of days washing, polishing and preening the dust covered Speed.

The “plan” had been to head to the Drive it Day meet of the Crash Box Club (a Devon based classic car club) at Dawlish and, hopefully stroll around the massed and serried ranks of classic cars and bikes in an informal gathering. All might have been well had it not been one of those days where the weather threatened heavy showers at exactly the wrong time in exactly the right place - if you get my drift!

So, I bailed on the idea of taking the bike out and having to repeat the two day cleaning exercise for the sake of an hour’s ride and, as it turned out, a cancelled meet!! The Jag is far easier to clean.

Anyroad up meduck, I thought I should share some proof that the thought was there - at least the NSPCC/Childline got some very welcome funds from my purchase of he two plates. Oh, and the boy was, apparently, OVERJOYED with his introduction to ragtop motoring in style! From what I know of his background he certainly deserves to get some joy in life.

The Speed Triple was booked in today for a couple of warranty recall jobs so I borrowed the dealers Speed Twin 1200 demo for a couple of hours.

I’m not sure the Matt orange paint suits the Speed Twin, but it’s a great bike to ride.

Get er lit

Same here!

I think it need more colour on other parts of the bike to work, and I’d prefer gloss, especially in that orange!

Sitting on it and making bike noises isn’t quite the same is it

Is it just me or do the clocks look wrong. They seem to need putting more upright …?

I think it’s just you

The clocks are easy to read when riding.

Took the Thruxton out for its 3rd spin with me. Headed to Kinsale, Cork, Ireland which is about 35min from where I live.

Lovely pictures mate. Love Kinsale, stayed in a b&b on a tour round Ireland a few years ago. :slightly_smiling_face:

Just imagine how much better the pic would have been if the Thruxton was green… :joy:
