Say, that new bike of yours would sure do justice in Ireland
It wants to go there!
All I have done with my Triumph is swap it’s position in the garage with the 'blade and check the tyre pressures ready for commuting tomorrow. It was a car day for work today; needed reasonably smart hair and nice clothes for an external meeting / conference thing today .
So, went for a ride to our local Tintagel branch of J&S (other retailers are available), looking for a new one piece race suit…
Should have asked @Iron to knock you one up!
Commute for me today; probably the fastest I have ever got to work…my overtaking game was strong this morning . More chilled on the way home.
I took Tigger to the neighbouring city of Utrecht, to visit a juwellers, who’s a friend. Main purpose was to get my late father’s signit ring adjusted to my rather fatter fingers. Also taking in his watch (which belonged to my grandfather before him - so Wim to Wim to Wim) to have it looked at and possibly refurbished. Both items had been sitting in a drawer at my mum’s house for 45 years. My sister gave them to me after my mum passed away a couple weeks ago. Added bonus: Tigger behaved beautifully!
Nice story, Wim! Please forgive me for not resisting telling the old joke. “This watch has been passed on from father to son for generations. But I intend to keep it.”
Today I’ve done 240 miles and 7 hours in saddle, too knackered to write it up today, need beer If someone doesn’t nick it first!
I’ve been spending hours around the front of the trophy doing the brakes. The garage who did my mot was correct that there wasn’t much left on the old pads. It’s the cleaning of the pistons that’s taking me all the time, they are showing their age at 21 years.
One thing that I enjoyed was the new draper piston pliers that I bought (details here) it worked wonderfully rotating 5 of the 8 pistons so far, I’ve still got the other three to go .
The weird thing is that the rear brake caliper hangs under the disc and has a reputation of seizing, but it was perfect, it’s the front that’s suffering.
Well done dude!
Snap! I came home today, 280 miles. Reality has set in big time, up at 5.30 for work tomorrow at least it’ll be a short week
And you had a great time, presumably!
Oh yes, it was excellent! I’ll put a pile of pictures up, got a load on a seperate camera I need to go through. I already love Ireland but even more so now. And the wee bonnie performed brilliantly, it was perfect
Sounds great Andy - Ireland was already on my bucketlist with the bike, even more so now! And fantastic you’re so happy with the Bonnie!
Lucky you.
I had a run over to Queensferry (Chester Triumph) to order some pannier bags for my up and coming trip to France. The Thruxton is running like a dream.
Today I was using bloody tissues to mop up leaking fluids from my Triumph. OK, whilst true that’s rather melodramatic
I was sat out a cafe in Moffat when a older guy comes up and asks if that’s my Triumph out front. I answer ‘yes’ and expect the usual sort of bike chat, not what he said next: ‘it seems to be leaking something’. Sure enough theres a puddle underneath and my heart sinks. Touching the puddle leaves my hands black and sticky and I think it’s oil, heart sinks even further. Getting on my hand and knees I look to see where it’s coming from and see it’s coming out the drain on the evap cannister, heart lifts back up again and I sniff the black leaking stuff and sure enough it’s petrol I had just filled up, to the brim as usual, and bike was parked on an incline so I surmised petrol was coming out the breather tube, and alls ‘well’, phew.
And those bloody tissues? Well, they were left over from earlier I was taking a photo and tripped stepping over a roadside barrier, falling on the road and cutting up my palm. Perhaps ATGATT should apply to photography too
Sounds like you need to start going out on rides with a grown up to look after you. Good luck in your search🤣
