What You Been Doing With Your Triumph Today

It might just be me…but that doesn’t look like a Triumph

You wouldn’t know a Triumph if you saw one

Of course I would, here’s the latest from Hinckley

So you can polish a turd after all !!!

Last run this year for Tigger. Beautiful day, if a bit nippy… forecast for the rest of the week is sh@te, and as of December 1st the insurance is on hold until March.

@Dustywheels I would have squeezed that back with a couple of pieces of timber and a decent G or sash cramp.

The mrs. front brake lever was bent after she dropped the striple in France last year, so today I fitted new v-trec levers. Nice bit of kit!

I moved the Speed Triple 6 feet backwards to get access to the garage loft to get my Xmas tree down.
Keen Xmas fans will probably guess that it’s a fake…?
Moved the bike 6ft forwards to where it was, noting that it’s still got some Assen MotoGP dirt on it as I’ve been a particularly lazy with the cleaning regime this year…!
That’s now on the list to do as I don’t think it will be going far over the next week or two…!
Think I will SORN it . Don’t usually but it’s not going to be ridden until March I guess…
No scenic photos from today’s activity…!

Not much point doing it now as you won’t get anything back for the remaining days of December as they only refund complete months. Best to do it at the end of the month :+1:

Well, the mrs. didn’t like the levers I fitted to her striple as they were shorties… took 'm off and looked to see whether they’d fit on my speed triple, which they did…

So I’ve now ordered longer levers for the striple…

Why haven’t you mounted your old levers on her bike pretending they are expensive new ones ?

Shoot! Hadn’t thought of that!

Haven’t ridden bike for nearly two weeks and I couldn’t remember if I’d unplugged the satnav mount so I ventured out into the cold to check and found I hadn’t. As well as disconnecting it I thought I’d attach the battery charger to avoid disappointment when I do decide on a ride.

One of this winter’s jobs, when I have tank off do valve clearances, is to find a place in the wiring loom I can cut into for a switched live connection so I don’t have to worry about these things.

I reckon the best and easiest option for a switched live would be for it to take it from the rear light. Probably a yellow wire.

Problem on my bike is that everything is extremely cramped and hidden. E.g. rear light wiring runs inside an enclosed narrow channel that is part of the rear mudguard and plugs into a socket hidden behind battery and air boxes. (It took me many hours to get access so I could check and replace rear number plate light unit.)

Also, under the rider’s seat is open and exposed with the airbox and suspension underneath, so I don’t really want to route wires out through there. The main loom under the tank is probably cleanest, maybe at the connector for the instrument panel or headlights. (Can’t remember what connectors are where, will find out when tank is off.)

Point taken - still, a yellow wire will still be your best bet, methinks…

Yes, you are right  Just looked at wiring diagram and yellow is switched power for lights (and the cruise control button it seems  ). It goes to a 5 pin connector for the headlights which is probably under the tank. Along with a black ground wire.

Guess I should actually buy some connectors to solder in to make a proper job of it…

In my town parking is sometime difficult.
So still riding the Triumph almost every day as long as there is no black ice, and the rain + leafs deadly combo.
Monday evening ride made me arrive home after 9pm
Don’t know if it’s because the cold, but I can hear valves ticking. I wonder if a winter pause could be a good occasion to check valve clearance…

It wasn’t your knees knocking was it?

 could be.Years of abuse an sports ended with almost no articular cartilage left on knees :grimacing: It’s ticking everywhere
