If she’s not a red headed Irish lass… there’s slim chance
Is she married to a dodgy secondhand car dealer possibly ? Live in Peckham …?
That’s the one! Do you know her too?
Four of us, me, a 2010 Speedy SE, Z900 Anniversary and a GSXR600 did an oft taken route to Keswick and back down the A595. The two Speedys got the best of any breaks in traffic so had an enthusiastic trip home No pics until I had washed it
Sun finally came out after many days of heavy rain so time for a ride! It’s gone cold though, only just double digits temperature wise, so I gave in to the inevitable and rotated out my summer riding gear for the winter stuff.
Went to a friend’s and we rode together for an hour or so to get to the Old Wharf Tearooms at Hickling where we had lunch and discussed plans for a possible excursion to Spain next year. It came over grey and looked like it might rain but as we rode back on a completely different random route we found more sun, so finished of a pleasant trip nicely.
Definitely that awkward time of year temperature wise - not quite warm enough for riding jeans but not consistently cold enough to switch to full winter textiles.
Off to Northumberland today for over two weeks - struggling with what to wear! May still go jeans with base layer and take waterproof over-trousers
If it’s too cold for wearing denim riding jeans, I find that my leather trousers are ideal, windproof and very comfortable. They are still OK even in warmer weather. I’ve never really liked textile trousers. If it’s really really cold, I can wear thermal long johns underneath, but I rarely ride in the depths of winter nowadays. Of course, leather is only showerproof, so I also carry waterproof overtrousers.
Yep, on those chilly days I’ve increasingly been wearing my thermal leggings under my biker jeans!
Must be getting old, I didn’t even used to wear gloves!!
In my distant student days, some bstrd nicked my gloves off the top of my locker, leaving me to ride my Norton Dominator 28 miles home in freezing winter weather. I had to keep stopping every few miles to thaw my hands on the timing cover.
First job, 6 mile commute in office clothes, no gloves, I used to stand at the drawing office sink with my hands under the hot tap!!
And isn’t the thawing process PAINFUL!
I’ve just come back from a week in Northumberland, you will definitely need waterproof trousers and the wind was biting so it might be worth the textile option
Edit: I wasn’t on the bike but had to break out my big coat
Toasty!!!
Notable edit from above humour… I did notice the cooling weather today… I may have to put my hand grip covers/wind break things back on again! Either that, or break out the winter gloves!
In my defence I had just come down from a week in Scotland where we were treated to 20+ degrees C so had a very quick drop of 10 degrees and a strong NW wind
Is that a selfie?
Photoshopped to make me look good!
I went with jeans and a base layer - just about workable at 11 degrees whilst charging up the A19 and A1. This week now forecast dry and up to 15 degrees. Waterproof trousers have been packed though
Fork seals
a particularly arse of a job when a gorilla has done up the allen bolts in the bottom of the sliders
the later years (1980s) are supposed to seal when the stanchions go in. But they are so loose that they need a splodge and smear of silicon along with the no-leak seals.
I need some more fork oil so we’ll only find out tomorrow now…over…
